must be a mineral, when i head to north western victoria there are some lakes that are blue, also a pink lake. Definitely a different soil type that was as you would imagine, more a red soil.

Thanks mate, nothing compared to the places you get to, but yeah, very nice little system up the hills here locally. Funnily enough, yesterday I went with the family and friends to just swim and picnic and the water wasn’t blue! The smaller pools before it were but not the big one. Must’ve been the rains we had last week 🤷🏽‍♂️ I did see a bigger fish tho 😏 which makes me hope there’s bass in there too…most probably we couldn’t tempt one that day coz it was too sunny…I’ll try again one morning at first light

The blue water? Depends where you are. If near some caves then mineralisation coming from there. The blue pool at Jenolan Caves, NSW, is an example.
@Off_The_Top_Fishing
@Off_The_Top_Fishing 9 күн бұрын
Thanks mate, unsure of the proximity to any caves but I’ve read that this creek flows all year round which makes me think it comes off a spring not far upstream…therefore coming from underground (I.e. similar to caves I’d say). So yeah my guess about the presence of minerals in tte water giving it its colour is probably true by the sounds of some answers here. Thanks again for comment!

Nice one mate! Beautiful spanglies, i love those little guys. That's a mad looking place, i reckon that blue water is due to mineralisation from limestone or possibly from a type of algae. Cheers mate!

Thanks Mark, yes, I feel like my trip overseas during last Xmas was like a Phd in jacks fishing. I was able to try different things and see how they reacted to them. If it wasn’t for my experience over there I probably wouldn’t have had the confidence to throw glide baits at them in the creeks…but it does work! And the most important thing is that not many people does it, who’s good because the fish haven’t seen it yet

Thanks Jake! Yeah I know, jacks off a yak up your way aren’t an option!! Over here, in SEQ most creeks are overfished unfortunately…chasing jacks in creeks usually means lots of hours on the water for very little reward…to successfully and consistently find numbers people travel 3-4h north where crocs still aren’t an issue but jacks populations are much higher. So, for me to find this little paradise of jacks fishing so close to home…I still can’t believe it! Haha such a great place! And yeah these guys definitely test your gear!!

@Off_The_Top_Fishing
@Off_The_Top_Fishing 25 күн бұрын
Thanks mate! The 20lb can make it look a bit heavier than what it really is…it’s just PE0.8 so quite thin line (I’ve seen 10lb lines that are PE1.2!). At the end, as long as it’s thin enough for you to cast well, the poundage rating isn’t important in my opinion…and for snag bashing targeting big bass I definitely don’t want to go any thinner than PE0.8…
@vin18m
@vin18m 25 күн бұрын
@@Off_The_Top_Fishing interesting, I’ve never really paid much attention to PE ratings in the past. I fish 6lb in very similar structure although average fish is only low to mid 30’s, occasional high 30’s. The 6lb I fish is 0.14, which I believe is equivalent to PE 0.8, maybe I’m a bit crazy 🤪
@Off_The_Top_Fishing
@Off_The_Top_Fishing 25 күн бұрын
@@vin18m I’m sure your 6lb breaks at more than 10lb if it is so thick. That’s why I don’t really look at pounds but instead at PE or thickness in mm

Thanks Jake, yeah some top water lures can be retrieved in a few different ways and I had people asking me about the Anthrax in the past so I thought I’d make a video showing how I do it. It was good that the fish wanted to play the game too! Haha And yes, I’ve seen it a few times when a seagull or cormorant lose their prey and it falls back in the water…those injured and disoriented bait fish are most likely what a Bent Minnow or an Anthrax are imitating (at least that’s how I imagine it). Clear!! It is about making the most of the friction surface to improve braking force. I believe that companies do not make larger discs to save costs, since there would be no problem with improving the brake since the failure would never come from the gears, first because they are not forced by braking, and second because it would all fall on the brakes. weight on the line and it would be cut. Perhaps only the top of the range will have more surface area in the future.
