I does seem counter productive to be removing nutrients with Nopox and at the same time having to over feed to compensate. Just throwing money away. Surely there has to be a happy medium somewhere? As you say very low dosing to start and watching the corals and live rock closely. I have always used Rowphos and considered switching to Nopox via a dosing pump. Now not so sure.

Apparently there is plenty of organic phosphates even when your tank is zero on the hanna but a hanna is 5 percent out of calibration I use allso salifert check against a vile of test water and fresh tank check the difference in colour you will see slight blue that's enough po4 plus with the organic po4 I found adding z elements nitro plus lowers my po4 bit along as I get a bit of blue on the salifert I happy

You have to be very careful with this. I am still trying to research why this works for some and others it can kill fish and possibly nems. I used chlorox disinfectant bleach 7.5% with chloromax. The dose is .003/.075 x gallons every 12 hours. You should account for water displacement of rocks. Do only half this dose the first day and I recommend to run carbon and skimmer the first 3 days. Good luck. Keep updated if you can. Maybe find me on Facebook.

I had 4 of them in the tank and they stopped eating it after about 2 weeks. I then got pitho crabs and they were much more ferocious towards the bubble algae. I have 3 more on the way to see if they can contain it.

Biology isnt running, water low nutritiant, sand more nutritions in, so dinoflagelats comes first to „chew“ on that, after that cyanos. Nasarius snails, strombus or conomurex snails and buriing seestars(archaster typicus) will help for cleaning the sand. Higher silicate levels also can show up like this. With barebottom there are less problems, also caribsea livesand tend for this kind of smear…

I certainly wish you well with your future reefing endeavors. I just happened to come across your channel from searching for more information about Aquaforest Component 1+2+3+ dosing system. I can understand your logic for not dosing the third component to the system however I don't necessarily agree with it. Reason is this system is designed to be dosed in equal amounts and each of the major elements contain certain amounts of minor and trace elements. Each component with the respective minor & trace elements are to be dosed without any precipitation of the elements as long as they are allowed some time between each of the components. Therefore if you continue to only dose the two components eventually your system will become unbalanced and could potentially crash. With the home work I have done on Aquaforest 1+2+3+. Fauna Marin's Ready2Reef and personal experience with Tropic Marin's All for Reef. They are basically similar products however the Aquaforest product does appear to have something about it that just makes the corals really pop in growth and coloration. I am seriously considering making the switch sooner than later. Good luck.

I've been dosing 8ml per day for quite a while. NOPOX just didnt seem to work so I increased to 8ml where I got No3 down to 15-20ppm. Then I see this and the latest RedSea advice on use says no more than 3ml per day. I have a 120 liter system. I have now dropped to 1ml per day. But my NO3 started to rise already. My system is 2 years old with lots of bio rock and skimmer. Maybe my skimmer is not doing the job?

Depends n ur count f fish n feeding cycle, usually small tanks of that size are known for fluctuations, my guess ur tank loaded with fish n overfeeding Also 15-20 nitrate s not bad as u see in all youtube videos, dnt worry much but ensure its consistent every week, not big swings, u r still ok, i hv a big 500 with always 20 -25 nitrate with 20 fish n mixed reef, all ok for years❤ cheers

I've not see a good explanation on how it works. Normally in a aquarium you have wastes - Fish eat = ammonia in the water = death - A bacteria that is on every fish will convert ammonia to nitrite = less toxic then a 2nd bacteria again on every fish (you don't have to find it) converts Nitrite to less toxic Nitrate Nitrate = food for ugly green hair algae What eats Nitrate? - Plants - what is thy by product? - Anaerobic bacteria - low oxygen bacteria only found deep in poorly perfused rocks or deep sand beds. How does Nopox help with aerobic bacteria ? What is the name of the bacteria it helps grow? How does this bacteria convert Nitrate and Phosphate to ??? Where does the nitrate and phosphate go? What is it converted to. They never answer this. Its just hey I dump this stuff in my tank and it lowers my Nitrates by magic.

Where did you purchase this tank?
@MoeReefs
@MoeReefs 2 жыл бұрын
I bought it from my lfs. Nemos Reef. I have to say I am disappointed in the overflow. I should have known better and not gotten a durso overflow as it is extremely loud and there is no real remedy for this. A durso overflow is something you find in a Petco tank. I ended up overflowing the tank and damaging the led lights. It was a small disaster and I almost shut it down to re-drill the tank whch is why it is taking me so long to get it going. If you do find this tank, get it without their overflow and drill it yourself to add a herbie overflow.

@@MoeReefs I have seen people use the overflow and return as a return and added a return. Where is the last located?
@MoeReefs
@MoeReefs 2 жыл бұрын
@@leroycline8849 I should have done that. I will have to re-drill the back for a return . Super pain in the ass and not sure If I will do that yet as it is fine right now since it is not directly in my living area. The only thing I found to quiet the return water on a durso is the eships flex return hose. Hard pipe resonates through the house. It was terrible. I even modeled and 3d printed a baffle on the return and it made no difference as it was the hard pipes and the size that was causing most of the sound. Hard to explain.

@@MoeReefs I’m debating between the two right now. Does acrylic scratch even if your careful? Have you ever tried those mighty magnet for cleaning acrylic?
@MoeReefs
@MoeReefs 2 жыл бұрын
@@gino.from.chicago The best thing and most common to use on acrylic is magic erasers. You can slice them in thin sheets and wedge them between a strong glass cleaner. Even with the softness of a magic eraser eventually if you look closely after about 6-8 months you will start to see micro scratches. I can imagine it will get a lot worse going on 2 or more years of cleaning. It could be the algae/coraline scratching the acrylic itself. The only way I could see to justify an acrylic tank is if you are going 300g or larger. Go with glass.
