Its always the Turk going to battle with double that of the European. And the European always "I am superior" throws in their best cards...and that's it. Either work or ok let's run away!!! Seems like the strategy of Europeans never changes. Like in Ukraine....Ok give them our best weapons...if it fails...let's leave!!!! The Russian is like..okay let's overwhelm them with our Turkish Strategy!!!

Nice reenactment of the most crucial battle. As for me, absolutely loved Clavell's book, and thought the 1980 cinematic production stayed closer to the book and was therefore much better than the recent version.

20:09 The Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 brought an end to the Sengoku period. It is not completely right. Although Tokugawa Ieyasu built Tokugawa Shogunate in 1603, Toyotomi Hideyori (豊臣秀頼), the young son of Toyotomi Hideyoshi (豊臣秀吉), who resumed his father's title of Kampuku, is still a potential rival of Ieyasu. (Ieyasu is one of the five regents assigned by Hideyoshi to overlook Hideyori) So in 1614, Ieyasu found a excuse, and waged a war against Hideyori, beseiged the Osaka Castle, and forced Hideyori and his mother to commit suicide.

Bayezid killed both his brother and his father in this battle. Killing your own father and usurping his rule during a battle against the enemy is surely a way of ending your own before it has even started so best keep the assassination of the old man quiet and help perpetuate some myth of a lone Serbian knight murdering him in some dishonourable way like pretending to surrender or playing dead until he walked past... just in case you need a Casus Belli in a few years.

Also our prophet Muhammad asw wasn’t gonna give battle on an open field. He decided to do so simply because they were young Muslim men in the crowd during his preparation of the battle that were eager to do fight outside of Medina and they voiced their opinions. So the prophet Muhammad asw went inside his house and put in his armor. Once he did they older companions of the prophet said to young men that they shouldn’t have said that and that the prophet asw already gave us his opinion to fight inside Medina, so they went to our beloved messenger asw and said we changed our opinion, we will follow your directions and fight inside the city. So prophet Muhammad’s asw said: it’s prohibited for a prophet to put his armor and take it off before the battle is over. In other words the decision has been made we are going to meet them on the battlefield. and for ubay the other chief that took his men. In our Islamic history, we call him the hypocrite because he was always trying to hurt our prophet asw and he never intended to actually fight alongside the Muslims.

It’s crazy how many times in history wars of honor are fought because of the decisions of one dickhead breaking the terms of peace. The entire kingdom brought to war and ruin because one guy hold up in a castle wants to pillage.

"heaviness" of cavalry depends on fighting style- not on how they dressed. They could have same armor as light but charge with pikes while holding a line.

Reading the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles at the moment and this video helped understand this particular moment in history. One needs to read and absorb Englands history often for it to sink in. There is so much going on but very interesting.
