Your locs are beautiful. How often do you shampoo your locs? It’s winter in the US now, how often do you spray your locs with water? Finally, how many locs do you have? I’m interested to see if my loc count is close. TFS!

1) Right now, I shampoo every 3 weeks. 2) Honestly, I've been slacking on moisturizing my locs and focus more on moisturizing my scalp (which I'm learning is part of the cause for the itching). I would say I spray my locs maybe 1x/week. 3) I believe I have a little over 100 locs...you can check out our loc count video for the official number😅 Here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqvZnoauqNV1r68

Heyyy, just starting my loc journey. I’m still in my first month. My locs are probably right between yours and your sisters. I think mine are small traditional/micro locs, so it’s nice to see both perspectives. Alllllso, I studied abroad in Costa Rica in undergrad. I studied linguistics and Spanish in undergrad, and considered speech language pathology as a career path. So much in common! I look forward to keeping up with whatever new content y’all put out. ✨

Glad our channel is helpful for you! Our goal was to give people different perspectives based on the type of locs they have/want. Soo cool that you went to Costa Rica! I studied there for a month in undergrad and LOVED it. That trip gave me the confidence to be able to do a long term trip by myself. Thanks for your comment!

Could it be the product you used to re-twist that is making your scalp itch
@2sisterslocd12 күн бұрын
Good question! I've considered this. I have changed my products (i.e retwist products, shampoos and conditioners) a few times and have had the same issue. A few times, I didn't use any products/oils post wash and had the same issue.

Your locs look lovely, but I would recommend not using oils/gels on the hair cause they hold on to lint and buildup. I started using grease on my scalp and just bring the rest down the shaft. Also, a clear clarifying and dandruff with conditioning shampoo may help. ‘Ingrid’ is an organic semi-Freeform loc person who you might be interested in.✌🏽

I think lint is inevitable, unfortunately. I just started noticing lint as well now that my locs are longer. I think I'm going to try and color my hair with henna. With my previous loc set, once my hair matured, I did loc brushing, which I think helped with lint.
@2sisterslocd29 күн бұрын
Yesss! I try to do loc brushing but I don't do it often enough. I definitely need to get on top of that

Your locs are beautiful!! Edges have been a problem for me as well. That would be a great topic on strengthening edges! Another topic would be coloring locs. I see that you have a little splash of color! Congratulations on 4 years!!!

This is so encouraging! I've been wanting to do a full immersion Spanish program for so long and just keep chickening out or getting another job. Glad Guatemala was a positive experience for you.

Yesss! Do your research, get info from other travelers and then do it! There were so many other solo travelers who I met while I was there so I always had people to hangout with. It was the best thing I've done!

Congratulations on reaching your goals! And your locs look great! (I hope to see more of them hehe...) I'm still here rocking with you. I'd love to see a loc wash day. They always encourage me when it's time to wash mine and I don't feel like doing it lol...

We have to remember that other countries are painted in such a way that is not favorable in the US. We have to get out, travel and see the world. My daughter went to Guatemala in July and she loved it. She has a number of pictures that she took of that volcano erupting.... which just blew my mind. ☺️☺️

My most harsh criticism came from my grandmother, God rest her soul and my mother who is very religious told me that I made a convenient with Lucifer by locking my hair...no one else's words move me. I am my most beautiful and confident with my locs and don't plan on ever going back no matter who likes it or not.

I installed my daughters locs when she was four. She started out with 649. Fast forward 2 years and I couldn't cope with retie time (nor could she). I combined them down to just over 370. She's so happy and so am I. Retie time now takes 3 hours and 30 minutes.
@VW18018 ай бұрын
It's good to see you! I agree about feeling more confident. I have traditional locs and feel the same way!
@dionehowell86878 ай бұрын
Your hair has progressed beautifully but girlllllll, that is a lot of locs. Would you ever combine them to cut down retie time & possible cost? It’s crazy how much stylist charge for loc maintence I’m a diyer I have just under 190 locs would’ve loved more but knew retie time would kill me. Plus I maintain 3 loc heads in family as well as my own 😞 not many loctitians here in my town uk 🇬🇧 not crazy for locs like USA 🇺🇸

Your locs are so pretty!!! I’m 6 months into my journey ~ it’s so interesting that you say the ends unravel… mine are the opposite. The roots seem to unravel somehow and the ends stay intact
@2sisterslocd9 ай бұрын
Thank you!! For me, it’s not as much the the ends have unraveled, and moreso that they just have never locked! But I don’t really have issues with my roots… very interesting!!!

I love how you were surprised that white men knew you had locs. i love that they shocked you! Really cool! I knew a lot of white men that love locs. It’s so cool to know that we can’t assume things about people. Love that they loved it ❤❤ My experience was always black people that made rude comments to me too, especially since I’ve had locs. I have brotherlocks (male sisterlocks)
@2sisterslocd9 ай бұрын
Yesss, you get it! I wanted to make the point that not all black people are supportive of them and not all white people are against them. The experience of having locs is more nuanced than we think
