I’m in the Northeast of United States in the inner city so there are people wearing locs of all types everywhere. I am 2 and a half years into my journey. My daughter and I started our microlocs together so I have someone that is experiencing similar changes in her locs at the same time. I have met several people with locs throughout my professional life. I have always loved different types of locs. The most rudest comments were made by my father and a coworker. I’m grown so the comments did not really affect me. Honestly, I wish I had started my locs years ago. No more chemical burns, or heat burns, or scabs in my scalp, or dry scalp. I don’t have to buy different hair products. My hair has already reached bra strap length. 😮 My daughter’s hair is ridiculously long. We did not do a big chop before having our locs installed. If you are confident in yourself and your appearance. Get the locs you want. You will not regret it.

This is it!!! Sooo truee. I've learned that when I'm confident in myself and my hair, everyone else follows along. My hair is soooo much healthier now than when I was frying my hair to force it to be straight. I think it's so cool that you and your daughter are on this journey together😍

My most harsh criticism came from my grandmother, God rest her soul and my mother who is very religious told me that I made a convenient with Lucifer by locking my hair...no one else's words move me. I am my most beautiful and confident with my locs and don't plan on ever going back no matter who likes it or not.

I love how you were surprised that white men knew you had locs. i love that they shocked you! Really cool! I knew a lot of white men that love locs. It’s so cool to know that we can’t assume things about people. Love that they loved it ❤❤ My experience was always black people that made rude comments to me too, especially since I’ve had locs. I have brotherlocks (male sisterlocks)

Yesss, you get it! I wanted to make the point that not all black people are supportive of them and not all white people are against them. The experience of having locs is more nuanced than we think

Oh absolutely. it is completely nuanced! absolutely.@@2sisterslocd

It is my belief that they know what locs are because they study us. Especially, if they are trying to make money off of us. Your locs are dope by the way.

Thank you!! I think there is an aspect to that for sure. It's important to for us to continue to support products from black-owned businesses
