Ok, I know he's talking about vanilla horses, which I agree, but if you are playing in survival or without a follower, horses are essential. And if you have the Skyrim anniversary edition or any mods then there are horses you can find and tame that are immortal and only cost the initial purchase price of buying the horse journal to start the quest.

Correction about windshear. You actually dont need to feed it soul gems. The enchantment only drains from heavy attacks. Light attacks also stagger and dont drain the enchantment.

Necromage doesn't just increase Restoration, it increases the effectiveness of *all* magic against you. That includes enemy Destruction spells, but it also includes things like Standing Stones and Perks. Just grab the Atranoch Stone and the Atranoch perk from the Alteration tree and you'll gain 100% spell absorption. This is one of 2 ways to receive 100% spell absorption, rendering you immune to all hostile magic, (as well as your own summoning spells and a bunch of other random effects,) so it makes vampires one of the strongest late-game options. The other way to get 100% absorption is via the Fortify Restoration loop, but that's broken for its own reasons.
