Very moving. Dougie would love this rendition. Well done indeed.

The tempo seemed to drop off later but holy hell it must have been stressful trying to match Lopez at the start

I've heard this song countless times & the same goes for their old (pre-Watershed) *live shows, but Jesus, Mikael was an unstoppable monster on vocals! Tnx for sharing a high quality performance from the BWP days, Karst! ❤️

Yeah that's mainly my issue with the older opeth live clips lol. It immidiately got fixed when Axe joined the band. One of several reasons i preferred him🤣
@RohannvanRensburg4 күн бұрын
@@Lukkern Haha same here. I understand Lopez's contributions but Axe developed into a much more dynamic drummer
@veggerhogger74663 күн бұрын
It may be the case with older records, but around Blackwater Park and Deliverance tours Lopez performed quite well. Also, I feel like some of the slower Opeth songs need that kinda speed to spice it up a little, yknow?

I would try maybe using a de-reverb plug in on the audio and see if it gets any cleaner.

Also, any further update on the EoS live tape? I think we talked about it on FB a while ago.
@The_Karst10 күн бұрын
@dylanwydenes-charles4298 Good call on de-reverb! This vid was mainly a test of some new tools (although I didn't mess with reverb), so I'll add that to my list for the future. There's a lot that can be done to clean up these old recordings.

@@dylanwydenes-charles4298 The EoS tape trade doesn't seem to be going anywhere, unfortunately. I'm still hoping it'll work out, but it's not feeling 100% anymore :(.

Phil is a true hero. You just can't put it into words. I think people like John Sykes very much loved Phil. The rest of the band too. Sykes was a rock star on his own, and he chose no money to do a Lizzy cover tour with the rest of them. Scott is so cool. All of them are such great people. I know they loved phil so much. It is devastating about Lyynott. It hurt everyone. It is so easy to cry about Mister Lyynott. It gets so down to my heart 💓 and soul. It is not even rock and roll. It is something so special, that words are difficult to describe it. This guy was the real fucking deal. A fucking HERO.

Who the fuck is talking throughout this? Like noise at a metal show is normal, but a full ass conversation for (at least) 8 minutes of Opeth? Wtf? Sound quality is solid, but that was driving me about as mad as Melinda’s dude.

@Dethsquirrel *shows up at Opeth's first show in a year, which is on a fucking boat* "Oh hey, they're playing Serenity Painted Death! Isn't that one of their best ever songs, yet one that they never play live?" "Yeah dude! It is! Let's make the most of this miracle by talking total shite for the next 8+ minutes!"

We were so spoiled in the mid-late 70's. Music was so available and of such high quality. The artists gave us more than we could appreciate as evidenced here. Happy to see Lynott and TLizzy got their rewards.
