As an audioengineer playing in a band I can tell you that some musicians just don't understand the process of setting up on stage. When asked to play something or sing something they do it for 5 seconds. Then your typical guitarist plays over all other members line checking. They also don't understand how to communicate what they actually need in their monitors to the FOH.

I just started producing a band, fresh out of the university with an audio engineer degree and your channel has been extremely useful with how much real life issues you cover. I will be waiting for the next episode! Hello from Kazakhstan:)

Nice man! Digging the podcast! Totally agree on all points. Bands, be on time, watch your set time, don't go over, etc etc. Show up, know your stuff, be ready, be respectful. Have a great time, and more than likely the venue will have a good time and have you back!

This is a great first episode. As an audio tech from Glasgow, this topic has been on my mind a lot lately. The attitude of both musicians and sound guys can be appalling. Ego needs to be put aside. Thanks very much; I look forward to more podcasts!

I love the new format! Is there a possibility to stream it to Spotify? It will probably help you build a new fanbase. Being able to listen to it everywhere (car, bus, work, etc..), could be a very nice feature!

It’s not replacing my content. This is all additional content with my usual material. Yes. Working on putting it up on Spotify.

once played at a venue and the soundie was high as a kite. During sound check it sounded like there was an 8x10 ampeg fridge in my monitor so I asked hey mate can you turn down the bass in my foldback, he replied there's no bass in your foldback i was like oh ok, i walked to the mixer and saw the fader pushed all the way up to the top 💀💀

I believe every sound guy should have some experience on the stage. It’s hard to communicate with someone who doesn’t speak your language.

Agree with this, I played guitar/bass most of my life and have found I can get across the points I'm trying to make to the band since going into Sound Engineering

It doesn’t require experience playing on stage to tell a guitar player to turn up/down their stage volume and play chords to get a line check, or ask who needs what in monitors.

@@chrishammillaudio Oh I forgot. I thought live sound was more than just working volume levels and monitoring. I must be in the wrong channel. See ya

You said you believe every sound guy needs experience on stage as In performing. Unless I misunderstood. No, you don’t need musicianship experience to be a sound guy but you should understand how frequencies work. No need to be a passive aggressive baby when I disagree.

Why are live sound engineers grumpy? Could be the entire weight of a successful event seems to ride on their shoulders. They need to ensure exceptional audio while bands, venue owners and promoters seemingly do their best to tank the show.

If you know how to tune your kit and don’t have your cymbals an inch from the rims, you’re the furthest thing from a nightmare.
