36:27 I respectively disagree with the notion that the trope of beautiful women basically having the world thrown at their feet only because they are beautiful is rooted in misogyny....I think its more a reflection of reality of how men treat beautiful women....personally I do feel men should care way more about a womans character, but it is a deeply engrained feature of heterosexual male behavior to desire a woman for her beauty and seek to gain her attention by giving her things of value....of course this includes men who hate women and view them soley as property to be bought and things to be used.....but it also includes good men who desire to love and cherish them....I love One Piece take on this because Boa has no love for the simps where as Luffy doesnt care about her looks, he gets mad at her when she acts like a Jerk but also appreciate her when she does the right things(at least in his eyes the right things)...which is idea for how the world should work.

Luffy as a kid saw Shanks as weak/cowardly when he did not fight back against the mountain bandits. Maybe a similar scenario happened on Elbaf in front of Loki as well. I think Loki is also relatively young in giant years. Being around Elbaf warrior culture and not too much time with Shanks can make Loki perceive Shanks as a coward.

Something I love about Nami and her physical appearance in relation to how she dresses; she enjoys how she dresses. She knows she's attractive, and she will argue with any man to tell her to cover up. I love that she's confident in her appearance, and she won't let any man mistreat her because of it.

Loki is not being friendly. He's talking down to Luffy and saying whatever he can to get free. His inner monologue has him saying that he will kill Luffy as soon as he's free just because Luffy attacked him for the Shanks comment. He isn't Law. Law knew enough about Luffy to know that Luffy will fight anyone and doesn't care about the odds, he just didn't know who Luffy was on a personal level. Loki does not. He does not care about Luffy. He just wants his freedom. He threatened Luffy with the animals using mafia talk. He sees another lowly pirate human that might be his ticket out so that he can destroy the world. You draw bees with honey, not vinegar. And why are people saying Loki ain't a threat? The man can shake mountains with his voice while chained with seaprism. All the giant's keep saying that he is dangerous, that it took all of their warriors to chain him. The strength of his allies does not speak to his own strength. He is not a joke. Luffy is relaxed cause he's Luffy and he's confirmed that he's in Elbaf, so he's excited. If Loki wasn't a threat, why would he be chained up in the First World? This doesn't feel like Zoro as we didn't know why Zoro was tied up until after we met him. We know why the giant's tied Loki up. It's cause Loki did something he shouldn't have. He killed his father and ate a legendary devil fruit. "He committed all manner of evil acts, and was sentenced to crucifixion a few years back but nearly escaped his punishment... It took all of our warriors to get him under control!" Don't be so quick to brush off any idea of his power just cause Luffy is strong and Loki's chained up. We know little about Loki, but what we do know deserves respect for his potential power.

My belief for why luffy seems so chill is that loki isn't a threat to him. This doesnt make loki a good dude either just weaker than luffy.

I see the “Shanks is a coward thing” from Loki being him misreading the situation. He promised to wipe out a crew, and then found out Luffy knows about Shanks. So Loki assumes they have beef, cause most people who aren’t on an Emperor’s tend to not be friends with said Emperor, and was gonna try to use that to bribe Luffy into freeing him.

I'm getting the feeling that Loki's fruit will be the mythical Leshy devil fruit a giant that is part plant with a booming voice that can tame wild animals & is often seen with a deer skull in drawings of this creature which matches with Road's cosplay of the Sun God

With blindfold I think that Loki could be a reference to Balor a cycloptic giant from Irish folklore whose eye is said to shoot a deadly ray of light and according to some folklorists is argued to be a sun god

I have no doubt Loki will end up being the antagonist of this arc. In almost every depiction of him, he can’t be trusted, despite putting up a false air of being being genuine

Having read both the unofficial and official translations, the only difference I'm hung up on between the two is that at the end of the chapter in the unofficial it says that Saul has fallen and can't get up, where as the official says he's fallen and he *won't* get up. The unofficial makes it sound like something has happened to Saul where as the official makes it sound like he's just lazy.

Another point in favor of Loki being a good guy is the fact that his introduction bears a striking resemblance to Zoro’s. In both cases, Luffy encounters a dangerous man who is tied up whom we’ve been told, but not shown, is evil. In both cases, the man offers to take someone out on behalf of Luffy if he is freed. Hell, even the pose they’re tied up in is almost exactly the same. This doesn’t necessarily prove that he’s gonna be a good guy or anything, but deliberately calling back to an arc that had a theme of false labels is maybe a sign that Loki is more complicated than he initially seems.

The mountain bandits in the first chapter also said "farewell cowards," so we got 3 people in different points of time saying that he's a coward. pluse, we have a scene of him talking to the 5 elders so maybe there's a bit of truth to those words Is Shanks gonna be the first person we meet where what people say about him is the actual truth?

@MelonTeee I think Loki's imprisonment has to do with Big Mom and Lola. Given the time skip and Lola's time in the Florian Triangle, 6 years sounds realistic for everything that went down over that marriage proposal. Big Mom has been persona non grata since her starvation attack on their leader when she was a kid. Plus, we still dont know what exactly happened to Mother Carmel and the kids, but we know a giant witnessed it and ran off scared. So, if that giant told their leader, that would put her even higher on the list of enemies. And then here comes Loki falling in love with the enemy's daughter and making deals to marry her. Thats a big no no. I've also been wondering how Big Mom could possibly have the spear of Elbaf. Perhaps that was part of the deal with Loki? I'm also curious about whether or not Loki's feelings for Lola were pure or if it was an obsession. Given the fact that he wasnt fooled by Chiffon, I think his feelings were real and I would love see how Lola ended up leaving. Did she really not like him, or was her mom being so overbearing that she left on principle without really giving it a chance?

One thing I’ve hardly seen mentioned is how similar loki’s helmet looks to luffy‘s straw hat in shape if you subtract the horns. The parallels just keep coming.
