EVH was so rediculously good. 1977 is the context.

what blows my mind other than the general skills etc, is how the blues shred solo makes you think 'ok, that sounds inspired by the Malmsteen's Live in Leningrad blues solo....only to find out that this was recorded BEFORE the Live in Leningrad show. Decidedly a great guitarist who is one of the best metal guitarists ever.

You'll know his sweep speed, scale twisting, string skipping only when you nearly learn and play. I've learnt this and played over the years n now but it still doesn't match the same as his but good to learn n used in solo playing... He is great, play then only you'll know.

5:59 X: what pickup its in there? PG: this pickup is a Duncan Distortion (by Seymour Duncan) and which its wired in parallel, it just make it a little bit trebleer, it gets aluminum tape on it to shield it (from external noises, but thats not true btw) X: whats your neck pickup? PG: thats a Duncan Vintage Firebird I think (Vintage Mini Humbucker)
