A couple of things: First: the supercharge in the basement slime pit. At 2:40, you discover the radiation suit and button behind some bars. Meanwhile, on the upper level there is a room behind a blue door, and inside that room there's a hidden shootable switch in the corner behind some crates. Shooting this switch reveals the lift that takes you back down to the basement slime bit. But shooting the switch also opens the bars, giving access to the rad suit and button in the basement. As you discovered, the platform with the supercharge lowers when you activate the lift. What I don't think you noticed is that the lift can be activated two ways: by walking on it from above so that it will lower you down to the pit, _and_ when you press the button behind the radiation suit, which summons the lift so you can get back up again. It's easier to get the supercharge if you press the button. Second: the plasma rifle on top of the crates in the starting area. You jumped off the rising lift at 18:58 and then said "Ok, so you can jump here" and from there you were able to reach the platform with the button that lowers the plasma. Then at 19:25 you asked "did I really have to make that jump?" The answer is no, you did not. At 24:29, at the upper level near the room with the blue door, you used the lift that raises you up high enough so that you can jump down into the slime below to fight the monsters there and collect the chain gun secret. But what you failed to do is TURN AROUND once you got to the top of the lift. If you had, you would have noticed a passage behind you that drops down into the same place that you leapt to at 18:58. Granted, you were able to make the jump, and that does allow you to collect the plasma rifle without needing to get the blue key first, but I don't know if that was intended.

Just one of those days huh? :^) This map is definitely highlight for me. Looks amazing, and it's super cool how everything interconnects with lots of exploration. The progression a mess though. Not even needing the blue key to finish is a choice. Pretty sure I remember Decino getting stumped on this one too, so you aren't the only one!

This map showcases Tourniquet's style and I like it, but his other WADs (e.g. Miasma, Altitude, Mutabor) are much bigger and more entertaining. You won't find the progression or secrets right away - but it's entirely player's and his habits' fault, as clues are (or naturally become later) visible. Great map author with great MIDI taste.

What I really like about this map is its interconectivity, There are soo many ways to aproach this map, the secrets are very organic as well, and the ship at end is very cool Hope youre ready for map 12 Kinda recommend to play it with the lights off :)

From my time watching, I think you have a habit of hard-focusing an inaccessible item or area without fully testing the immediate area. I can see this being a distraction causing you to rush connecting areas without inspecting the environment, leading to missing lifts, switches, etc.

I think the progression of the map felt confusing to me; from the start there were so many things I couldn't access - the plasma, green armor, supercharge, etc - that I lost track of things. And I just couldn't tell what was a secret or what was progression anymore, so I didn't know where to look 😅 You're right though, I got way too stuck on a few things before trying the most obvious places first.

I got to 5:21 and I must say that you're exhibiting extreme symptoms of the "blind plague". You're shooting every switch you see and humping every bit of decoration instead of enjoying the map. It may sound harsh, but that's the vibe I'm getting from this map so far and the previous Revilution map you've played. I personally love it more when you're logically searching for a secret or searching for a secret at the end of maps, than hearing Doomguy go *humph* at a minimum once a minute on a wall. I know secrets are hard to find, but some are visual first, where you look for what doesn't fit, some are auditory, where stuff moves where you don't see from a repeatable switch, and the rest are abstract ,where I do not mind the humping and shooting if you do find the secret (But I'd personally like it if it was only at the end of maps). Taking a slow thorough at an area after you clear it might be fine (I don't know if the KZbin overlords will take kindly), but that might just be the me who really enjoys Hidden Object Puzzle games talking.

That's a valid point! I think the progression of the map felt confusing to me, and I was convinced I had to look for hidden stuff in order to make progress. So at 5:21 which you mentioned, I take the lift up, but there's nothing there to interact with (except the switch to go back down), causing me to incorrectly assume I have to open a hidden wall or shoot a secret switch - because why else would you take the lift up there? Things like that. I don't mind not being able to find secrets too much, but if I get lost during the regular progression the blind symptoms definitely get amplified by a thousand. In this particular map, I'd say even to the point where I was surprised to see everyone liking this map so much 😅 Not that I disliked it, but its one of the very rare times where a map doesn't do too much for me, while it seems to be universally praised. Doesn't help that I had to cut out 10 - 15 minutes of me searching for the blue key, I can't remember the last time I had so much trouble... so probably just a bad day/run as well x) Luckily, MAP12 went way smoother!
@leemil2002
@leemil2002 16 сағат бұрын
@Vytaan after the 5:21 I've mentioned, the map flowed smoother. But it's the fact that I drank a little while watching combined with your desire to find a secret early and you missing progression that made me feel weird about your play. It's essential to mention that this one map is definitely confusing. It was very confusing even during Decino's playthrough. But I personally recommend a secret hunting grace period of up to 5 minutes, based on how you feel, that doesn't include searching for secrets in the starting room.

I absolutely love this map, it feels like it captures the soul of TNT more than nearly any other in the set and is always one of the first maps of think of when I think TNTR. Questionable routing, frustrating secrets, great MIDI. Hidden monsters. It’s TNT alright!! Ps the average damage done from the Berserk is 110 (give or take with Doom’s epic RNG) so it should take 3 whacks to down a 300HP Rev 😊 ONE LAST THING, the drop at 23:00 lets you get the jump on the manc and chaingunners as you fall behind them and they’re set to ambush. In the “intended” route, you fall in front of them and get lit up.

Like you, I also have watched Decino do this WAD. But it was over a year ago, so I don't remember too much. Aside from some of the start aeras, etc. But For some reason, When you were going back and forth through that room with the fourth and final secret in it, I kept saying to myself, 'I bet there's a secret in that wall' where the secret was. I wonder if it was in my subconscious from back when I saw Decino do this map? ❓🤔❓

This is a solid map, but for me it's outshined by the brilliance before and after it. And the music (a Varis Alpha remix of a Requiem track by J. Doyle, from all the way back in '96!) is a bit too "party"-esque for my liking. The cave fight is a ripper, though, so much fun in that bit of zing. Up next, a proper CYOA of a map. Too bad it's tedious to do all the circuits around to collect everything.

This map could use more lighting for more character. Going into a well-lit room with no light source seems weird. It's a good map, though. There is lighting in certain spots, but it's too minute to notice.

I agree. This is an old map though, and it may have been thrown in to fill the whole 32-map size with more focus on touching up gameplay than aesthetics.

@@GoodOleDFT I revisited my old 32 level map set from few years ago, and I took time with lighting. But I am not citquing the lighting, just saying. This mapset has a cool skybox over my generic one.
