It happens that Western cuisine once emphasized both of the worst threats to renal function-- red meat, and salt, added as a preservative and "flavor enhancer".

We need salt. We don't need sugar and refined carbs now that will spike your blood pressure. We excrete salt from going #1,#2 & sweating. We absorb sugar and refined carbs like a sponge. Therefore, retaining fluid in which it's harder to get rid of.

Maybe a good point to add is that people who have kidney disease but who have not received a kidney transplant should follow a low protein diet. When I was on dialysis, i was on a low protein diet but once I received a healthy transplant and began working out again (lifting heavy weights and cardio) my protein needs went up so that I could gain muscle for overall health. I chose to meet my protein needs with a healthy diet and plant based protein powder. My lab bloodwork is excellent.

There's a fairly recent study showing (in the study) that an eating window of 8 hours a day increases the risk of heart disease by 91% - Given that the biggest cause of death with kidney disease is I believe heart disease, I would love for the doctor to discuss this study and give his thoughts.. Thanks!

Fruits and vegetables are rich in glyphosate (a poison fertilizer to kill your gut microbiome). Even organics has been shown to be contaminated with poison glyphosate. I drink 20,000 mg to 30,000 mg of sodium per day (0.9 diluted with redmonds real ancient salt) on ketovore and I’m doing perfectly fine. I don’t have a degree like you but I’m smarter than you

When I got off of all caffeine my frequency of urination reduced (72 years old). This in turn significantly helped me to sleep longer which improved quality of life. I avoid caffeine from any source: coffee, tea, chocolate, and medications. Will be this way for a very long time. It is not worth losing quality of sleep to enjoy the wonders of caffeine.

I eat nuts and v.dark chocolate for breakfast or a snack - usually organic and skinless if possible. No almonds or cashews due to arsenic etc levels and farming methods. Nuts , chocolate - along with certain vegetables contain oxalates. I eat small amounts of organic Goat and Sheep cheeses to counteract the above negative effects. Thanks for the information.

Is whey protein ok for the gut? Let's say organic whey with no emulsifiers and other chemical compounds. Whey concentrate is highly absorbable and is absorbed in 45 minutes so I take it is is unlikely to cause protein putrefaction in the gut and have a negative effect. And the glutamine should help prevent leaky gut. Do you have any opinion on that doctor?
