Hagens reminds me of Shane Wright, a center that was considered a 1st overall lock at the beginning of his draft minus one but had an underwhelming year and ended up slipping to 4th overall, I can see Hages going 3rd or 4th overall as well which was unthinkable a few months ago

Really feels like it’s going to be a 2 horse race between Misa and Schaefer. I think both of these guys pull away and will be safely in the 1 and 2 spots come draft day. There’s just too much to like and not many down sides to either player. Hagens and Martone are both obviously playing at an elite level but I feel like they have more apparent weaknesses in there games at this point in time.
@ryanwasiak7050Күн бұрын
Also as a Hawks fan I’m really hoping for Misa above all else. I think he would eventually become our #1C with Bedard moving to the wing then someone like Moore or Nazar filling in that last wing spot on our top line.
@nhldraftprosКүн бұрын
I agree with this! And this is how I have my new rankings as Schaefer at 1 and Misa at 2, but I think it will depend on what a team needs depending on lottery.

@Z0raPlus2 күн бұрын
My rankings are: 1. Schaefer- Two way defender that can skate well. Just needs to stay healthy in order to solidify the top spot. 2. Misa- Really fast skater with a well-rounded offensive skillset. I would compare him to Mikko Rantanen. 3. Hagens- Hasn't proven enough to take the top 2 spots but I like his playmaking and 200-ft game. Needs to work on his finishing ability. 4. Martone- Everything is there BUT the skating. Has the mold of a power forward, similar of a Corey Perry. 5. Frondell- After a slow start to the season, Frondell has definitely found his game. Desnoyers does make sense here but I like Frondell's skating better. Frondell is a solid two-way forward with skill and physicality. 6. Desnoyers- Same player as Frondell except his skating is worse. But its great to see that the QMJHL is producing good prospects. 7. Eklund- Same type of player as his brother except the defense is more raw than his offense. Displays the same speed and skill as brother William. 8. Smith- I value defense more than offense which is why McQueen isn't ranked here. I like Smith's defense and skating, though there is room for improvement offensively. 9. Spence- Same type of player as Smith but he's a forward. I value defense over forwards. Spence is raw offensively but there's a lot of potential defensively and he also is a really great skater. I had this kid in my top 5 for most of last year. 10. McQueen- This player gives me Kirby Dach vibes. Big yet rangy center and is a threat offensively. But consistency is McQueen's main downfall. Also we don't know how well he will do after his recovery.

Spence is not on that level. His pace is not good enough and away from puck play is not great. I have him outside the top 20. Sneaky offensive game albeit. Could almost guarantee Bear gets picked before him.

To be honest I agree with you , I think Misa has a higher potential then hagens. I've seen some scouting reports comparing Hagens to Jack Hughes. During hughes draft year some scouts were calling him a generational skater. Hagens skating ability is not on hughes level and I don't see him being a game breaker at the highest level.

Hensler has been a favorite of mine since last year when I watched him a lot with the NTDP. I think there's some untapped potential there. I just wish he was more confident with the puck and rushed it more often.

My take as a Shark's fan. We're probably finishing last (32nd) but might end up 31st (with Chicago last). The draft lottery could have other teams win the 1st and 2nd picks. At worst, I think the Sharks and Hawks each have top four picks. Schaefer is the first choice. Dickinson looks to be a first pair defender on pretty much any team in the league; he plays powerplay, short handed and is a work horse for even strength... and he's very good defensively too. But aside from Dickinson, while the Sharks have decent defense options they don't have superb defense options. Schaefer would be my second defense pair, behind Dickinson, but I'd play them like a 1a and 1b with similar ice time. I think Misa is the best of the forwards for the Sharks. The team already has the deepest and likely best offense for the future. They're lacking on defense, and Misa's game is very complete. I'd personally go with a Smith/Misa line and a Celebrini/Eklund line; I don't think it matters which of Smith/Misa is the center or wing. That gets two lines of creative players with great hockey sense and a very good defensive player on each line. I wouldn't be upset with Hagens (my 3rd) or Martone (my 4th), but think Schaefer and Misa are the top two for the Sharks.
