Great video. I just purchased this radio (the Jeep model) and was wondering how to hard wire it w/o using my aux switches. I picked up a 6db antenna and bracket for the spare tire but otherwise will likely do the same setup. Thanks for the detailed review and steps!

No problem, I’m sure that will be a sweet setup with the bigger antenna. Thanks for watching the video!
@WreckedBrewery6 күн бұрын
@@FROSTBITEOFFROAD Yeah I'm just waiting for all the pieces to come in. My only concern is the antenna being too tall but I did buy the Terraflex antenna mount that goes on the tailgate hinges and I believe it can be mounted on the upper or lower bracket.

2019 Rubicon JL, 12,000 miles, 2 L Turbo 4 I was getting error messages pertaining to auxiliary switches unavailable, and have replaced the chassis battery 3 times. Dealer told me it was the auxiliary battery. I took it to my local repair guy who dropped the fender liner and pulled the auxiliary battery case. It was empty! No cables, nothing. Case looked like a battery was never there. Everything i saw online indicated this auxiliary battery was under the fuse block, accessible thru the fender liner. Any advice?
@FROSTBITEOFFROAD7 күн бұрын
You must have an e-torque model, they have a high voltage battery under the rear seat and no alternator or aux battery. I’m not sure why you’re getting that error if your main battery voltage is good. That error comes on with low voltage. Hope this helped, thanks for watching!

Thanx for your detailed reply. I agree... the dealer missed this one and sent me on a wild goose chase. Will pursue other options.

This mod just eliminates the aux battery from the electrical loop, you will still have to push the button on startup to turn it off. They do make programmers that disable stop-start so you don’t have to push the button every time. Hope this helps, thanks for watching the video!

Can you put that narrow track willys axle on a jl rubicon. Is the fact that one axle is wide and one is narrow a real hinderance from them being interchangeable
@FROSTBITEOFFROAD14 күн бұрын
No, all the mounting spots are the same. But I don’t know why you’d ever wanna go from a selectable locker to a limited slip. I basically did the opposite of that and the locker made a huge difference on the trail, the bigger brakes were nice as well. Thanks for watching the video!
@moemanm120214 күн бұрын
@FROSTBITEOFFROAD because it's a nightmare to go and find the a locker that is 32 spline that will fit on the Rubicon. All aftermarket lockers at least from my knowledge want you to go up to 35 spline which means you would need 35 splined axles
@FROSTBITEOFFROAD12 күн бұрын
@@moemanm1202 yeah, the Rubicon locker is hard to find if you break it. I ended up buying a new rear axle from the dealership and swapped the locker over to my trussed axle. It was expensive but I sold the empty housing and recouped some of the money. I believe it ended up being cheaper than buying the 35 spline ARB and the custom axle shafts with no wait time. Hope this helps!

@FROSTBITEOFFROADАй бұрын
The aux negative runs up to the main battery, the aux positive runs to the fuse block by the main battery. When the JL first came out it didn’t have the software to bypass the aux battery on startup and you had to jump the aux battery from the pole on the fuse block. Thankfully they changed that, hope that helps. Thanks for watching the video!

OEM toe specifications are measured with the full weight of the vehicle on low-tension turnplates, with compensation for lateral runout. These steps ensure that tolerances in the wheel bearings, kingpins, and other articulations don’t compromise the accuracy or precision required. You’ve spent thousands modifying your vehicle, yet you’d rather waste your time and hand your money to the CCP instead of supporting a local business to have it done professionally.
@FROSTBITEOFFROADАй бұрын
This alignment tool is made in the USA and sold by a fellow Jeep enthusiast. This is also not a precision tool, it’s ment to get you close to specs after a day of smashing your tie rods into rocks. Larger tires will also require different amounts of toe than a stock vehicle, which is what most shops would set you at. I’ve also had several alignment shops not know how the adjustment sleeve on the Synergy tie rods work and ran it in like a jam nut. If you have the ability to check or adjust it yourself then you’re good, if not paying a quality off-road shop is the way to go. Thanks for watching the video!
@veerod383Ай бұрын
@@FROSTBITEOFFROAD Firstly, I agree that skilled diagnostic alignment technicians are increasingly hard to find. I also agree that if 90% of your vehicle’s use is off-road, then strings and tape measures might suffice. However, modern alignment precision often deals with tolerances as fine as 1/32nd or even 1/64th of an inch. While your tool may claim 1/32nd resolution, I’d question whether even the 1/16th mark is plausible given the slack and compliance in the steering system, including tire shoulders. We’re essentially trying to measure a block of Jello, not a solid piece of steel-something your tool might handle well. As vehicle speed increases, so does the need for precision. This is why your manufacturer triggers the “ESC Disabled” warning light when your steering angle sensor or related systems fall out of calibration. This warning signals that a safety-critical system designed to save lives is no longer functional, and the manufacturer effectively absolves itself of liability. For example, on highway exit ramps, ABS activation can occur because the steering angle sensor and yaw sensor aren’t aligned with the wheel speed sensor. In some cases, vehicles will enter limp mode, limiting speed, when certain thresholds are exceeded. Your JL will do it as well you just haven’t surpassed that threshold yet.

Great video! Question...are you going to do a video on how to actually remove and delete the auxiliary battery or did you just leave the auxiliary battery? It appears that this is more of a bypass solution. I'm just wondering if there's anything special I need to do to get rid of the auxiliary battery dead weight. Also, when I did this with my 20/20 Wrangler JLU, my main battery was still fine, so I removed the negative cable from the aux battery and fuse number 42. The auto start stop light was still on. I then disconnected the main battery and let it sit for 15 minutes then reconnected it. This took care of the auto start stop light problem, but my backup camera and my climate control was not working. Apparently sometimes you have to wait up to 24 hours for the entire system to reset. It's fine now, but I just thought people might want to know. Thanks again!
@FROSTBITEOFFROADАй бұрын
Thanks for the info, I’ve heard on the newer ones people need to cycle it a few times to get rid of the light. Mine worked great after a short drive. I left the battery in, it’s a very small battery and weighs nothing compared to the main battery. If you do still want to remove it you’ll have to pull your fender and make sure you buy more clips because a lot of them break. You’ll also need to run the positive lead back up to the main battery as well. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
