THERE WILL NEVER EVER BE SUCH A SOULFUL SINGING GROUP LIKE THE MIGHTY "DELLS"! EVERYTIME I LISTEN TO THEM I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY ARE AS GOOD AS THEY ARE. PAST PRESENT OR FUTURE NO SINGING GROUP CAN EVEN COME CLOSE TO THEIR GOD GIVIN' TALENT. IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN A GIFT SO MEN LIKE ME COULD KICK BACK AND REMEMBER THE TIMES I PLAYED A RHYTHM AND BLUES TRUMPET 🎺 IN AN INTERGRATED SOULFUL BAND WHILE STATIONED IN PUERTO RICO AS A MILITARY POLICE OFFICER IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY 🪖☮️🇺🇲! I'M 81 YEARS OLD NOW WAY BACK THEN I WAS 19 YEARS OLD HAVIN' THE TIME IF MY LIFE. IT SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY BUT IT WAS A LONG LONG TIME AGO. WILSON PICKETT WAS ASKED, "WHAT'S SOUL PICKETT" AND HE ANSWERED, "SOUL AIN'T NOTHIN' BUT A FEELIN'"! I TRIED TO HOLD THE WORD "STAY" AS LONG AS MARVIN JUNIOR DID I COULDN'T DO IT I ABOUT PASSED THE HELL OUT! I'M AN 81 YEAR OLD WHITE DUDE! CAUSE SOUL AIN'T NOTHIN' BUT A FEELIN'. IT KNOWS NO RACIAL BOUNDARIES! AS ALWAYS, GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFE AND STAY STRONG IN THE FAITH AND IN THE FAITHFUL! ✌️ PEACE THAT SURPASSES UNDERSTANDING I PRAY FOR EACH OF YOU WHO READS MY COMMENT! RIGHT 👍 ON! RIGHT 👍 ON! THE MIGHTY "DELLS"!

I have scrolled through so many comments, and have read a couple people saying they remember this show, but I need more details, please. What studio was this filmed in? I tried to internet search, but it is hard to pin the question down. Thanks.

Vinnie is a freak of nature with 'time'. He can inject snippets of odd times into straight time to completely spin the listener around and back again. Pretty amazing. I've followed him since his Zappa days and in my opinion his best work was all over the 3 Album set of Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar, because Vinnie went OUT! Today, the Gadd and Tony influence remains in his playing, but his work with Frank was ....ALL Vinnie.

Billy and Bob are gratefully still with us, but sadly Tony, Wallace and Mulgrew have gone home. That opening solo of Tony rolling through rudiments with such dynamics was amazing. Tony got his head inside the music he created and at times sounded like an earthquake, but that was his creative way of responding and setting up the changes. A giant of a musician. I have a visual Tribute to him on my channel and so you should know, I loved this man's playing.

Tony died way too young - so his whole career was prime stuff! He passed away in a hospital a few blocks from my place at the time in Daly City, just south of San Francisco. Dang shame. But his playing is always EXCELLENT. Thanks for posting.

James was lightning conductor focal point for all that talent behind him. He could channel that energy like no one else could have. The audience were worshipping the phenomenon of that tight unleashed funk energy and lauding it on James. Just a shame this band didn’t get the financial rewards they deserved, perhaps this band would have lasted longer.
