​@@Findyificationyou're judging him for what you just saw from him in one season and another 20 games. His body isn't ready yet to go out there and fight in the paint in every single possession. And even if he never becomes that kind of player, he's doing quite well already, and you just can't say a 20 year old player has reached his peak already. It's a stupid take for sure. That's not to say Wemby is better than Jokic, or that he will be next year or the following one. It's just a nice debate to have, the very fact that it's reasonable to ask if Wemby will surpass Jokic at the some point in the next five years says a lot both of Wemby's projections and Jokic durability as a top player in the league. Stop hating or at least use reasonable arguments.

yeah i would agree, even if he's not better than wemby every year in each of the next five seasons, it seems like the next 3-4 are his. I do *think* ppl may underestimate just how good wemby can be but if he usurps jokic I don't think it'll be because of a stark Nikola decline.

Doesn’t mean anything, Bird wasn’t athletic and didn’t relied on athleticism but still became injury prone and had to retire early, Dirk played 20 seasons from 99 to 2019 and never averaged over 22ppg after 2012, Paul Pierce played 19 seasons from 98 to 2017 and never averaged over 20ppg after 2009 … And look at Doncic, already having knee’s problems while Lebron never missed a single Playoffs game in all his 22 years career .. So you can’t really predict the longevity of a player by his playstyle, and people also forget the mental part, how many players are willing to sacrifice time with their family and train hard everydays to stay in great shape for 15+ years ? Not a lot, you really need to love Basketball to do that, and with the money players are getting todays, it’s even harder to stay motivated, but if Jokic really want i think he could play at this level for another 5 years, if not more wich is scary, but when you are 7ft 285pounds, a small foot injury can end your career so we’ll see

People are quick to mention how Jokic is better than Wemby right now which should be obvious to anyone with half a brain cell. However what they fail to realize is that rookie Wemby absolutely blows rookie Jokic out of the water and sophomore Wemby so far blows sophomore Jokic out of the water as well. Victor is WAYS from even the beginning of his prime, he's naturally going to fill up and get more athletic, he's also gaining basketball knowledge & wisdom by the day. At 20 he's already the best defensive player in the league and a consensus top 10 player overall. No one can predict the future but it isn't far fetched to imagine a version of Wemby with a similar or even greater impact on basketball in a few years as Jokic is currently having. Also for as great as Jokic is, his team record isn't that impressive and just one game ahead of Wemby's. And don't come and tell me that the Spurs' supporting cast has in any way, shape or form any more quality than the Nuggets' because that's simply untrue. There are several players with interesting potentials for sure, but right now the Spurs core are still young & limited in their ability.

Wemby is already averaging 24/10 with 3.5 blocks in just his second year, which is already more impressive than Ants 26/5/4 😅 I would say as of rn I would give the slightest edge to Ant because he is the more experienced player, but with Wembys upside I would take him over Ant without even hesitating and by the end of this season Wemby will definitely be the better player between the 2... all in all I dont even understand why Ant was brought up in this discussion since 1. He isnt good enough rn to be compared to Joker 2. He doesnt have the upside to be compared to Wemby in the coming years and 3. Other young players such as Luka and SGA are clearly better than him 🤷‍♂️

Let me ask you guys this question: right now would you draft Wemby or Edwards? Even judging by their present skills, Wemby is already better than Edwards. You can say that Edwards is better on the offensive side, but Wemby is an absolute beast, miles above Edwards defense. You can't just ignore that fact if you want to compare both players.

What about Joker AND Wemby, that pick and roll whoul be straight up unstoppable and defense wouldn't suffer. Wemby can play 5 in non Jokić minutes, but we all know, regardless of being 7-4, that boy is a shooting guard. Put a few 3&D wings around them that can shoot a little bit and understand cutting and you can start counting those rings. There are horses in San Antonio?

It's gonna be sad if he retires before 37 because at 35 he will be better than first time 25 year old MVP Jokic, he's game doesn't depends on speed and explosiveness but on stamina, strength,hiqh IQ and soft touch. I really hope he won't retire so esrly and keep playing until 31/32 season and than retire after Olimpic games or come back to Serbia and play 5 more years just for fun because even at 42 he will be top 10 center in the world.

Also when it comes to Edwards, he might be a better offensive player right now, and even that's debatable, but let's say he is. Is Wemby, say, 90% of the offensive player Edward is? Because if he is, then is Edwards 90% of the defensive player Wemby is? Absolutely not. Case closed.

Guys over 7'3" do not have long injury free careers. They are in and out if line up. Not banking on wemby playing over 60 games much after year 3.

@VincenzoBarbato If that were true then all the giants of the past would've had long injury free careers. But the opposite is true, the average career for guys this tall is only 5 years. It's a small sample but the stress put on their joints is significantly higher. My frustration is that the Spurs should be trying to maximize this early window with him.

@@VincenzoBarbato beg to differ. There are dunk highlight videos for wemby there are assists highlights for jokic. The best comp for wemby is Ralph Sampson. Sampson had a much better post game. Three great injury free seasons then slipped once tore a ton of cartilage and paired with back problems that was basically it.

@@sbrown923 wemby is different. did you see how he bent his ankle last year during a game? just got up and kept playing. he also did the samething walking on a ball boy before a game, no big deal. he is super flexible and trains his flexibility every single day for hours. How many of the past 7'4"+ guys in NBA history were ever able to do splits and bend like he does? THey would have broken like toothpicks if they had tried
