You'd need a wealth of knowledge and equipment to do it properly and safely. It is not recommended for folks to do it at home. The reactions are quite hazardous.

What percent ratio works generally for 60-70% silver jewellery? How much of distilled walter and Nitric acid would be needed? Should i dilute silver nitrate solution before adding copper in it?
@Steelythestacker
@Steelythestacker 2 күн бұрын
I was wondering why that was dropping so fast. There was also a slight tinge of green on the copper tube that was up against the glass. When I saw that I was wondering if there was still some nitric in there. I'm no expert by any means but Ive done the precipitate process about 10 times now and it always takes a good amount of time and drops a bright white / silver precipitate. Once dry it looks amazing and only pales in comparison with the silver growing in the silver cell.

Jeff how long did it take you to learn how to make gold? So many people mine it but this just seems much cleaner
@LithicMetals

I started by reading CM Hoke's book about precious metals refining. Then read everything I could about the subject. By the time I started doing the experiments, I was pretty well versed on the subject and hit the ground running. Just to be clear, I don't make gold, I refine it out of the gold others mine.

It's a good question. I cover it in detail in other vids. But in short, in order for the nitric acid to be able to penetrate the gold and put the base metals in solution, the alloy must be apx 25% gold and 75% base metals ( such as silver and copper). Leaving only gold in the end.
