Would you recommend this as a 1 ski quiver for a trip to Hokkaido in late January/early Feb?

The special, special wildcard ski from Norway... Moonlight Cruiser Carbon 120 mm width? I know Paul Forward at Blister is a big fan and there's only so many Norwegian ski brands (the Asnes Voss Z'N doesn't feel as special).

I can highly recommend and would also be interested in your opinion on the scarpa ribelle run. I love them, best alpine Trailrunners with the most natural fit and best climbing / alpine sole i ever had. I do all my big alpine objektives in them and the feel and control you have on rock and alpine terrain is amazing. Gonna get my third soon(the calibra version) and would recommend the XT-Version which has some more support and cushing und will probably last longer.

I absolutely agree. I have the Transalper, which has the same lacing system as the Alpine Pro 2 and after only a few month the cord from the quick lacing system had cut through the first lace loop. Really annoying and really hard to fix. Shoes is otherwise still in perfect condition. I don't know why they went with this thin and "sharp" quick lace cord and the lace loop made from fabric... real design flaw!

Two ultralight axes for technical ski tours (petzl gully’s) Two for mixed mountaineering where vertical walls are involved like some routes on Mt. Hood. One for longer expedition style climbing and a few more because they look really really cool

How do you experience Ridge Pro flex during real use? Does it stiffen up in the cold? Does it soften up over time? This boots fits my low instep foot very well. The ROM is crazy good. But, I am concerned it is actually too stiff for light skis. In room temp testing it feels stiffer than my S/Max 130s, Atomix XTD 130s, and Vanguard 130s.

Extra extra mediocre skier here... I've been on the 104 Locator this season, 178cm and G3 ion 12 bindings with leashes. It's been a fantastic season and I love the lightweight setup. Skis do well on everything but inbounds ice and breakable crust. But what does? Nice to see the less common ski get some coverage! 👊

Just got hold of this one and used on my last day of skiing in warm, very warm Zermatt. After more than a few weeks of continuous skiing, I developed issues with my little toe (using Hoji Free boots all the time). The Ridge Pro was for me an instant solution as my little toe did not feel any pressure in walking or skiing. Looking for more skiing and a lot of ski touring in Chile later with the boots.
@manuelschweikle81555 ай бұрын
Thanks for another super helpful review, Christof. The Ridge Pro looks like it could be the boot I have been looking for to fill the empty gap between my Scarpa F1 XT and Atomic Hawx Ultra XTD (old version) and become my everyday touring boot that walks well enough for the majority of my outings while not compromising as much on the down as the F1 XT does. My only concern is the fit. I did get the chance to stick my feet briefly into the Ridge Pro at a local sports shop. While the floating tongue really seems to work evenly securing my midfoot, I found the toe box awkwardly large (I have rather low volume, regular width feet). I am a bit concerned that this might translate into unprecise/delayed feeling when skiing. Perhaps this can be remedied a bit when replacing the liner, which anyways did not impress me very much at first glance. I'd be super curious to hear how this boot stacks up against the Atomic Backland XTD 120 that at least in the shop seems to fit my foot a bit better. If I'm not mistaken, you wrote a rather enthusiastic review about this boot on Skimo.co, @cnuila?! How do they compare when skinning and skiing? What's your personal experience when it comes to fit?

How much worse than the radical pro does it ski?
@cnuila5 ай бұрын
I don’t really think of it as “worse” just in a different category. I’d almost say it has a very similar feel, might even be as stiff, but in a 250gm lighter package. The mass of the Radical really makes a difference depending on what/how your’e trying to ski. So it really comes down to application. Are you trying to drive some really wide skis or a “side country” weight ski? I don’t know if it will have quite the power you need, and the Radical would work much better. But I think it skis as “good/strong” or better than any boot on the market of similar weight class. I don’t know if that answers your question, but yes, you gain something with the extra mass of the Radical and it is noticeable, but also you are not losing any more than what you would expect in the Ridge at a substantially lower weight and better walking articulation, and depending on your setup and how you ski, might not feel like you’re giving up much at all.

6th year on Slatnar bindings, no complaints whatsoever. Very reliable, feature rich, no BS bindings with a very reasonable weight. And no bloody plastic.
