To Lethem, it took me about 24 hours. I have a video about that as well if you are interested. I think the time may vary depending on the road situation. I heard that if it’s rainy season then it’d take more and be much harder. About visa, you need to look it up on the Internet. I did remember this river Beach called backtrack where we wait so long a boat to cross thé border. It was a complété mess with scammers taking benefit of this chaos on thé both sides of thé border. I was expelled from Guyana by thé border patrol and forced to spent one night in New Nickerie because thé leaving stamp of Suriname was mandatory, what i didnt know owing to thé closing of thé ferry port (except for thé immigration process they kept to thé same place weirdly). In Guyana, waiting thé taxi in Skeldon after immigration, i completely missed thé flight from thé ongle airport at 2pm in order to reach Lethem by plane. However, I woke up early in New Nickerie. You already know thé follow up when we met during thé journéy to commute from Georgetown to Brazil. By far, my worst Travel expérience.

I'm super happy to see you Jun. We met and chat together when thé van was broken in thé middle of thé bush. I'm thé black french guy from Guadeloupe, even if i've been lived in Suriname and French Guiana. Me too, thé police officers of Guyana, asked me a bribe before i had crossed thé border to Brazil. Afterwards, thé day after we reached Lethem, i miss my flight to Rio de Janeiro. Yes, this van journey was way much longer than expected and i paid another flight to south east Brazil. I made some connections in Boa Vista with thé haitian community thanks to people i Friend with in thé local airport. They even lodged me for one night. In Rio de Janeiro, i was thinking about you, wanting to go to Venezuela in thé middle of thé unrests that took place in this country. But eventualy, you did it successfully. To me, my expérience crossing thé borders from Suriname to Guyana, plus thé day we had crossed Guyana with all thé checkpoints, was my worse and scariest travel expérience in my life. Many scammers, rude, rogue and bad intended people i met. When i was in Brazil, i was starting to breathe again. It's not a trip for inexpérimentéd travelers.

I thank you very much for your comment man. I am Dominican and I was actually thinking about visiting Guyana and from there traveling by land to Brazil which is one of my favorite countries (I've visited 3 times) and even maybe Suriname by land too. However after reading about your experience I just decided to buy tickets to Cuba because I've had bad experience in other countries with currupt police officer and officials and really bad infraestructure and I don't really want to repeat that. I still would like to go to Guyana, but I'll just go by plane and leave by plane without leaving the capital city. If you guys have IG or something where you share your experiences in other countries I would be happy to follow you. Warm regards.

The "indigenous village" you visited is an informal settlement by Brazilian illegal migrants. Because of low population in FG, the local government doesn't have a policy of expulsion of illegals, but it doesn't either want to encourage illegal immigration by provide the needed services to those informal settlements. It's sad but it's a vicious circle that's difficult to break as long as Brazil doesn't tackle the endemic poverty of its Amazonian region that's being robbed of its resources.
