Curious, where does this creek bed drain into?
@russell71402 ай бұрын
I hate nimblewill, only grass killer works on it (tried many things through the years). Had to kill off half my yard in Gahanna this year (2024) and replant. Used the HomeDepot slice seeder to prepare the soil, and then had to rake a lot of the dead grass out (too much to leave on even after mowing low). I manually through seed down since you can't trust the drop box on the rental seeder, then I ran over the yard again with the slicer to cover it the seed up. Came in pretty good and survived the hot dry summer this year.

You are so right when you discovered an old tree had been removed there. Remaining tree roots decay over time and cause trouble for turf season after season later. Decomposing tree roots get hot in the summer and also cause lack of oxygen which roots need to survive. Rocks also arent helping either.
@KM15-133 ай бұрын
I was told manually pulling actually exasperates it by breaking the stolon's which aggressively generates new growth and also drops the seeds. Advised NOT to aerate for the same reasons.

In addition to your suspicion about the over fertilization (or fertilizing when it's hot out), I could have sworn I saw some curved burn lines around the lamp post area. I've had so many issues when customers fertilize themselves, they trace their yard and anytime there are small areas, obstacles, or curves, this leaves burn lines in the area.

Is it necessary to aerate and slit seed? Can you just slit seed?
@ColumbusLandscapers3 ай бұрын
You can, but not as effective because of irregularities on the surface.

A quick question I just finished doing my lawn. There seems to be a lot of thatch. I did detach but there’s still was a bunch after the seeding process. What do I do?
@ColumbusLandscapers4 ай бұрын
If there's about a half inch of thatch on top just spread it out it should be okay. If there's an inch or large clumps in the yard you may want to rake off some of that, but you shouldn't have to remove all of it.
@robspaziante30134 ай бұрын
I used the Billygoat cedar yesterday. I did pick up some clumps cause it seemed like way too much. Thank you for getting back to me any quick tips on my watering schedule.

Very helpful. I have zoisha which is capable of creating a bed more than 4 inches deep. While it’s great for weed control, the sprinklers are almost always blocked. Originally I tried adding risers underneath the existing 4” heads but then the body sticks out of the dirt and the mower breaks the very riser I added. I hesitated adding these because I thought I’d have to cut the PVC but your video made me realize I just need to add a flex pipe. As a cherry on top you showed the side port so even that will be easier. Few people think to post videos with simple solutions like this. Thanks for the extra effort!

If the homeowners can afford it-maybe replace a Starbucks with a 50 lb Rock once a week, in 20 weeks she’ll have a drain opening with no erosion at the head.😊

Thanks for the video! Is it possible to connect the barb connector to the hose without heat or is that a futile effort? I don't own a torch or heat gun. Thanks!

Yes, with some lubricant, but it's very difficult. You could possibly try a torch style lighter for a cheaper solution.

Very good video. Only thing I would add is to wet the area around the head and let it sit a few minutes before unscrewimg the old head. Then sediment wont fall down in the hole and it will stay like a tube.
@ColumbusLandscapers3 ай бұрын
Good to mention that. 👍 I also wiggle the head around a bit and try to "pack" the sides of that area so dirt will not fall into the hole.

At 10:10 you could've just put the nozzle back on with the water running so we could have some fun, lol. You could've mentioned that the riser may need to be FPT to MPT (as in this case) or MPT to MPT, depending on the installation method used. The system I installed 30 years ago was using 3/4 inch PVC pipe with 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/2 FPT tees, so the risers threaded directly into FPT of the tees. I wasn't aware of installations utilizing swing pipe in the early 90's.

Is it worth it to mix tall fescue with KBG bc of the ability to repair itself? I have 2.5 acres and I feel like it’s difficult to keep overseeing my fescue lawn
@ColumbusLandscapers7 ай бұрын
Consider using RTF. Rhizanimous tall fescue. Or we frequently use a blend at 70% tall fescue, 20% perennial rye, and 10% Kentucky blueThanks!

Hi, I have many videos on the different seed blends and usages. You might consider a hybrid RTF seed.

The rocks is the issue here. I had a septic repair and they brought “topsoil” full of rocks. Anywhere that was rocks, the rock would get hot and kill the grass all around it. Make sure topsoil u get is screened for rocks of 1/2” or less
@ColumbusLandscapers7 ай бұрын
Correct, I believe this was a builder issue. Any topsoil that you get respectively should be screened for rocks. Many times in new belt homes we see that there's no rock removal or topsoil added, they just lay down the sod.

How do you determine the slice seeder blade height?
@ColumbusLandscapers7 ай бұрын
On this machine there is a selector lever it'll let you adjust the depth of the blades. Normally you're only looking for about 1/2 to 1 in depth.

How do you put this thing into neutral to push if it won't start?
@ColumbusLandscapers9 ай бұрын
There is a small metal rod in front of each transmission. You need to pull those 2 rods ( towards the front of the machine) there is a little notch in the carriage that they will lock into. This will release the hydro transmission and allow it to roll freely.

Um I’m sorry but this is not the correct way of fixing the fence first you’re supposed to put a knot with the new wire and the all the wire so I cannot be pulled apart and still use a wire nut and not them together and then put it inside the grease cap so there is for sure 100% not going to be a partial break that’s how you’re supposed to do it properly

What if my sprinkler is under the soil and I turn my irrigation on, will my pvc pipe burst?
@ColumbusLandscapers10 ай бұрын
Not likely because there's not enough water pressure, but you may get an underground puddle. Sometimes I've even seen sod bubbles! Normally it will cause an over saturated soft spot in that area of the lawn.
