Seems like pretty biased video. You never say anything negative about it. Every product has negatives. The fact you didn't tell us about any of them just screams paid review.
@zsgarage7710Күн бұрын
Totally get where you’re coming from and that’s a super fair observation. No, I did not pay for it. I will say, I am a past purchaser and user of NWT. I had one negative thing to say about the new product and that was with the controls. The plastic moves a little bit but put a piece of rubber and it was fine. Could I have put that in the video? I could have but my second point touches this. Secondly, the president of NWT and I met via phone after I finished the build. He said he needed to know what I didn’t like and what adjustments needed to be made to this. I don’t know of very many companies that do that. So, I’m pretty sure that these adjustments will be made. The conversation alone that the president of NWT had with me, who is a super small time builder, speaks volumes of how they want to hear us out and get better. I mean, just a good example is the last generation X21 controls. The blinkers were on the front of the controls. So, when you pressed in your clutch, it would turn the blinker on because the clutch handle would touch it. So, they heard from other builders (not me) and made those changes. Anyways, totally appreciate the comment! I get where you’re coming from too! Thank you and cheers!

I don't get it. Four 26mm carbs should flow more cfm than two 36mm. Is it because the air/fuel mixture from each carb is alternating between two cylinders that you can get away with less overall potential cfm?

I run the CR33 carbs, if you want a bit more low end pull, go to a company called thunder products and get a product called a torque wing. Works very well and helps to keep air speed up at low throttle openings. The other thing they sell, but can be harder to install on the Keihins is a product called an intelajet, which injects preatomized fuel into the carb, makes these things pickup from around mid throttle on up and makes these bikes incredibly tuneable. The tuning on these carbs is tough and with Sudco now gone parts are hard to find, I ended up having to buy a ton of jets and slides to get everything sorted right. Here is the thing, I had these running well, and I thought all was well, but i heard an airy lean off idle sound and went to richer needles until I hit the richest needle (yy5). The needles for these carbs are all the same except the off idle diameter. I then went to a richer slide, and changed the idle jet to match the new slide. HOLY SMOKES these carbs are so good. I run thrunder product torque wings on each side and I am in the process of installing the Intelajets.
@zsgarage771014 күн бұрын
Definitely good to know. I went and looked up the torque wing. May need to dive deeper and watch some videos about them! Thanks for sharing!!

I would love to see a dyno comparison of the twin mikuni setup and the quad Keihin setup. The quad carbs just look so much better IMO.
@BuffMyRadius16 күн бұрын
I'd also like to see the Keihins dynoed with velocity stacks. I had a CB550 that I got as a cafe that never really tuned up correctly on the stock carbs with pods. Some ebay stacks and time on the lathe yielded some 120mm long velocity stacks I could fit pods to. It fixed all the fueling issues and I'm convinced it added 10% more power, the difference was pretty shocking.
@zsgarage771012 күн бұрын
One day I might be able to do that!

The Murray's set are Mikuni's right? What Mikuni's would you replace them with? Looking at getting some for my cb750 down the track.

I traded my Murray's that were running rich and had the throttle hanging problem for a set of CR29's as well. I had to tune them some, but they are imo far better than the dual Mikuni setup. Feels snappier as well with plenty of midrange and better top end.

@@zsgarage7710 Whoa! at first. But, if one rides the bike a lot - trouble free - worth it. I have a set of Keihin 627b on my '78 CB550. I rebuilt them and the worked great a few years. Now, one or more are leaking gas when I stop - stuck float or float needle I guess. The ole "tapping" with a screw driver handle trick isn't working. I probably need to take them off and do some cleaning/inspection. I was thinking of trying to drain and blow air up the overflow. Or I've read you can rev the bike and the drop the throttle and choke and it can clear something out. LOL. Rebuild a bike. No problem. GO BACK and fix things later - UGH. Just me?

Go buy a injected bike. Carbs are a Labour of love, from my experience, don't put down a carb company due to your lack of knowledge about carbs, they need tinkering with weekly. I'm in Australia never heard of Murray carbs BTW.
@zsgarage771026 күн бұрын
I don’t disagree with you about the labor of love. But I disagree with you on the weekly tinkering. That’s not my experience from the multiple carbed bikes that I’ve owned. But when I get multiple emails about the same issue with these carbs, I don’t think it’s a me problem. But I could be wrong. I did do a lot of “tinkering” off camera and continued to have this problem.

You could try reaching out to Barnett cables. They can make custom cables for that carb setup. If you think that cable setup is difficult, try working on Kawasaki triples.
