Yep it's a lovely model. I'm no rivet counter but the difference with the scale wheels and running gear lifts it above the coarser models I usually run. I could do with a wee bit more traction but not at the cost of a sprung chassis I guess so all-in-all I'm very happy. I will probably get some front steps on and mount them slightly further forward/outward as a compromise.

Hi Yes I haven't had powered 0 track for 20 years now! This is my 4th (and final!) garden layout...I'm only about a third of the way round so far... This Western had a Fosworks receiver at the time...it now has a Pro Mini Air (was Tam Valley) as I'm using Fosworks in all my metal steam locos as they have the best range by far (can bury them in metal tenders in amongst the cells and still work fine) and also I generally want a lot more functions from diesels so use an Rx that allows control from more conventional DCC controllers. Thanks, as ever, for your interest!

This is completely brilliant - genius! Exactly what I've been looking for. Adore that slow running capability - totally outstanding. Bluetooth control from my phone or tablet with battery power enabling locos to crawl across complex, dirty pointwork is the promise of HM7000 fulfilled. We can now paint our rails all over in a rust colour and let the wheels wear that off where they will. Hopefully the penny will drop with Hornby to provide battery options for OO and even TT, and all the scales can move to "dead rail" and freedom from the tedium and frustrations of layout wiring. Do you sell this as a kit? Got a Dapol 08 waiting for just such a conversion.

Nice neat installation Fil✌️👍💜😊 A few questions: What make of soldering iron are you using, it seems to have a very fine tip compared to my assortment of ancient irons🤔 Also may I ask what brand of Li-Ion batteries you're using please (are they guaranteed to not burn down multistorey carparks and/or shipping)?🤔 I take it that your controller there is the US made TVD type? Thanks in advance - looking forward to seeing more about WiFi options 👍💜

Thanks for your feedback! It's a pretty budget soldering iron but it did come with a selection of tips. Here it is from the rain forest: amzn.eu/d/5JHcF96 The Li-Ions are unbranded ones but through a process of experimentation I have found a source of reasonably consistent quality examples. All are capacity tested and come out around 1700-1800 mAh. You could use 2 square packs of 4x AAA however the runtime would be reduced by at least 40% plus once the batteries are worn (maybe only about 30 charges) you would find the loco unable to provide torque for real work owing to them simply not being able to output sufficient milliamps once they were less than fully charged. Tiny shunting layout with a handful of wagons no problem but ours are often on pilot duty and required to shuffle rakes of 7-10 coaches. The transmitter is my own Roco mouse system converted to battery power. It runs off 1 Li-Ion cell and is charged via USB, contact me on my email to learn more.

Thanks Chris. I took the standalone command station to Brambleton, stuck it on top of the roof of Stockton and could control my locos all around the 0 gauge layout with my phone or TCS controller. The Rx in your deltic is the last version that Tam Valley produced and is way better than their previous ones, though not quite as good as the Pro Mini Air. But it would simply connect to the standalone without any modification.

I like this idea Phil and had encountered some elements of such (but cost, space, complexity were issues), you seem to always have your eye on the ball and be up to speed though. Exciting developments 🤞🤞👍💜 My progress is glacialy slow - I've also had to battle with timber quality issues outdoors (more than once) - and I was planning on DCC indoors for short NG feeder and small standard gauge section of the line (and fiddle yard etc) and dead rail for 98% of the garden. The issue being if I didn't do DCC indoors small standard gauge shunters etc wouldn't easily convert to battery power. I keep simplifying the line and operations as I go and in my mind's eye. The outdoor section is basically a beautified set of links to the indoor station and fictional branch etc. You've given me another approach to consider 💜👍😊✌️🤞 Please excuse my ignorance, but, in summary, what your final solution is; is a DCC equipped loco, with a small battery pack (akin to Eg a pack of capacitors) to power the loco through/on dead rail sections of the line and a dedicated WiFi router for the system? The only downside I perceive? On cheap android devices in the garden, the screen is nigh on impossible to see in the sunlight, otherwise, if my summary is correct, it's almost the best of all the latest tech🤔🤔🤞🤞 There's now charger, car booster packs for power too🤔🤔 Where can the model electronics be procured in the UK Phil, or is it import only😕🤔🤔
@fildowns
@fildowns 11 ай бұрын
UK supply is currently being setup. Hopefully something available in the next couple of months. Yes the screens are a problem in strong sunlight, but there is always the TCS wifi controller...not cheap...but a lot cheaper than a phone I guess. Also don't forget something like my Roco controller which is their budget mouse/command station. I am also exploring installing a Pro Mini Air Tx into a Hornby Elite, which is roughly equivalent of carrying around an old stick Tx...
