I can see how this would have been a much more fun game if they just had some hard gating. Simply making it a bit more linear, with maybe a few branching paths, would have improved it a lot. There are still other issues. I think it’s a great object lesson in why limits can actually make gameplay more fun and interesting. In any event, Keith’s presentation of the game is still fun to watch, despite the game’s issues.

Didn’t even do it in nothing but his underwear.” 🙄 😜 Being serious for a moment though; when I first saw the box art for the game, while I knew they’d never actually do it, when I saw how Link and Ganon were framed in the pic, I immediately thought how entertaining would it be if there’s a new Big Bad and while Zelda is having her adventure, Link and Ganon are off in another dimension and are forced to team up buddy cop movie style to help save the day from their end of things. 😆

Using the crate for the horse to jump on gets you on top of trees! You can also make a bridge with beds for the water parts too!

I feel like it's pretty consistent that Tri doesn't understand people's customs and physical limitations. You can learn a language without also learning the differences between yourself and others.

Would have maybe been thrilling if they put something like the Majora's Mask timer in this game. Something like the Rifts are slowly getting bigger, threatening more of the kingdom, and each person trapped in the Rifts lose more and more dialogue the longer you take. Completing a Rift stops the spread in the area and gives you more of the world to explore, but then you have to question if you explore for more upgrades or rush to clear the other Rifts. If you remove the rampant fast travel and introduce the horse earlier, it could maybe be a simple but gripping system your first time through.

I think the carrot is supposed to summon the horse and that pulling the carrot out to get her out of hiding and giving it to you as a summon was a tutorial.

38:10 - or that’s the for the benefit of those that didn’t discover how useful the tile is for mobility; can’t speak for others, but I got into the habit of using water blocks for traversal when I played, so never used the tile for anything other than that one quest where you have to show it to a Gerudo and thus never learnt how useful it actually is. Edit: also there is enjoyment to be had from doing those platform challenges/routes/etc. _You_ might not enjoy doing them (think you’ve stated in the past that while you don’t hate platformers, you’re not a big fan of them?), but other people do, so it’s almost certainly a case that such sequences are included for their enjoyment.
