The main reason is to reduce static electricity. Carpets, especially synthetic ones, can build up static electricity, which can interfere with signal transmission. This is more prevalent if you live in a place where it gets cold. The dry air combined with heating systems exacerbates static build up. Have you ever walked on carpet and got zapped when touching a doorknob? It’s a poor example, but hopefully a relatable one.

Great review first time watching your channel very informative! I bought the mono albums individually. I remember seeing the Beatles story back in the late 70’s so if i didn’t buy it then not going to buy it now. I compare them to my 60’s mono copies. The reissue are very punchy and more clear with the AM radio vibe. So I was very happy with them. I just wonder if they ate limited edition or are they gonna be around for a while? Have a good one!
@VinylLatte2 күн бұрын
Thank you, Matt! I don’t blame you in the Beatles Story 😉😂 And I totally agree with your assessment, these are punchy and sound great for what they are. Oddly, the boxset is limited but the individual pressings are suppose to stay in-print for a while. At least that’s what I understand, which makes the boxset’s $130 increase even harder to justify. IMO, they should keep the Beatles Story in-print as long as the others are, and sell the box for $50 or $60 more than the 6 individual albums. For the extra cash, you get the Story and a collection box to store all the records in. This would make it more palatable for people to purchase.

Great video! re. rarities, yah, I think I am inconsistent. I like them in two main circumstances; one where its one of my favourite bands (e.g., recent Galaxie 500 Uncollected 2LP), and one where I think the original LP is over-produced. I guess the latter can across as elitist ("I liked them before they got popular"), but the reality is I love when a band is still close to their source of inspiration/straining at the edge of their capabilities (and willing to take chances) more than when they are perfectly accomplished (and, to me, boring). All that said; WOW. a full crate of new stuff. Man, you much get annihilated on the proper RSD when there are 4-5x more releases.... good on ya! Keep going!
@VinylLatte2 күн бұрын
Thank you! Great example in when a rarities album may be worth spinning. For me, it’s ultra rare if I respin a rarities after I listen to it once. But, I can get on board with what you’re saying about liking the mastering of the rarities more than the studio release. If that’s the case, that would be my go-to record for that album and it would get spun a lot more. As for the next RSD… I’m already starting to save a budget. 😂😂😂

@VinylLatte3 күн бұрын
Hey neighbor 👋😂 I’m actually in Clayton, but I really appreciate Phil and Philip and everything they do for their customers. It’s my go-to local store and my RSD home-base! How was Pour House for RSD? Do they have a good system? I can’t believe how rare Deluxe has been. I looked on Discogs last night and it’s already selling for $120. Crazy. Being a RSD First, I hope they repress this soon and make it more readily available. It’s such a great album, and people deserve to have it in their collection without spending $100-400 on a copy. (Apologies for the rant.) I’m glad you got your copy! Pick up any other titles that you’re looking forward to spinning?
@CurtisBond3 күн бұрын
@@VinylLattelol. No, I totally get the rant. I feel very similarly and was quite irked to see it already getting listed at hundreds of dollars on Discogs mere hours after it was available. Like you said, it’s an RSD First, so hopefully we’ll see a wider release down the line so people can get their hands on it without paying a fortune. Pour House was great! They had all their RSD releases lined up on the far side of their store and had arrows that directed everyone into a single-file line. That way everyone could flip once they got to the first crate. It was very organized and kept the whole thing from turning into a free-for-all. Love Pour House, and I go to them more than almost any other local. Far as other releases I got, I picked up Earl Sweatshirt’s “Feet of Clay”, the Ramones Greatest Hits, and John Lee Hooker’s “Don’t Turn Me From Your Door”. Really excited to listen to them all, but especially the Ramones. Been looking to get more into them and hoping this will work as something of a primer.
@VinylLatte2 күн бұрын
It sounds like you and I are similar minded when it comes to Deluxe😉 I need to stop in and spend time at Pour House. When I head into Raleigh, I usually hit the used book store at the Glenwood circle (they sometimes have great records there), Nice Price, and Honky Dory. I haven’t spent much time at Schoolkids, Record Krate, or Sorry State. One day, I want to do a Raleigh loop and hit all of them in a day… an official grail hunting day, if you will. Anyway, I’ve gone off again. Great picks! The early reviews of the Ramones Greatest Hits are coming in favorable, which I’m glad to hear as I was worried about the runtime on this single LP. I’d like to know your thoughts on the Earl Sweatshirt and John Lee Hooker. I ordered John online, but haven’t pulled the trigger on Earl yet. I picked up Doris from Vinyl Me, Please earlier this year and it sounds good. Mastered well, dynamic, I couldn’t be happier with it. Happy listening!

@@VinylLatte The box set sounds better than the OG I got back when it came out. I just recorded my video. The OG is a single disc, the box set is 8. sounds great, but it is a subpar 2 shows. He got Mitch Mitchel back in the band by the time I got to see Jimi live. May 30, 1970 late show Berkeley Community Theatre. I was just 21 back then, riots were happening about some social injustice etc. So the only show I saw was pressed on LP.
