•Repost from a Reply• Marner leads the team in points, assists, PPG, and +/- in the playoffs, over his tenure with the team. How much more do you want him to step up? There's 4 other guys on that team that are supposed to be about as good as him, yet Marner, the statistically best playoff performer, catches the heat for the teams lack of success. Also, he is leading the team in points, 15pts ahead of Nylander, leads the team in assists (2x the next closest, 44-22), his primary assists alone would still put him at the top of the team. His +/- is the highest of any forward on the team, and oh yeah, has the highest TOI of any Leaf player. He is also 4th in Leafs goals He is also 2nd league wide in assists, and tied for 3rd in points. He is doing this all without Matthews being in the lineup. It depends on his salary demands and how they do in the playoffs. If they go out in the first or second round again, I dont see how they keep Marner... and if he wants Matthews money, tell him he's free to go play in Anaheim. If I'm Trev, Im offering him the same deal Nylander got, if thats not enough for him, then he can fuck off.... Sure, he's a GREAT regular season player but he's never stepped up in the playoffs. Also, SOMEONE has to step up and make a stand against Darren Ferris bullshit... Dubas didnt have a big enough pair of balls, lets see if Trev does....

@@Pixelplushockey I totally agree... 11.5 a year, you want to play in Toronto or dont you? Have fun in San Jose or Anaheim, we dont want or need that kind of player here.

Thats plenty to get a top 6 RW and then some... I want Marner to stay here, but without some kind of playoff success putting 50% of your cap into 4 players is just insanity

Nils is a good player and I agree that the Nucks shouldn't give up on him. He needs more time on ice and players that compliment him. Also, his last name isn't pronounced the way you say it. The Ö in Höglander is not pronounced like an English Oh or ah. It's more like the double o in the word book. Even though the letter "ä" is not in his name it's good to know the differences between it and the standard "a". "ä" is said like the "a" in cat and "a" is pronounced "ah". So, his name is more like "HOOG LAHN DER".

I'm a Cancks fan and follow them more closely than you obviously do. I would say that Petey is not a headcase so much as he is still a little immature. I was surprised to learn that he was still on social media earlier this year, considering that most players do not do much with social media because there will always be haters, no matter how loved you are. Vancouver is full of passionate fans, and Pettersson is a lightning rod for both the lovers and the haters. In reality, he should ask for a trade to NY, Seattle, or Vegas, where he can disappear into the background. Even if he were one of the three or four faces of the franchise, he'd be able to walk the streets in relative anonymity where people would only see a handsome blonde man, not OMG, IT'S PETEY!!!!!! Which is what he gets in Vancouver.
@JoeBlow-b7j8 күн бұрын
They should NOT move Pettersson. He is a Selke-caliber center, and those guys are never available on the FA market. If you trade him, you get futures (draft picks) or existing players that the other team will give up. The problem is that Vancouver will end up in that mediocre middle, never having a high enough draft pick to improve their roster, and too good to get a high pick they can build around. Also, if they trade him, they will say goodbye to Quinn Hughes in two and a half years because the Canucks will be worse without Pettersson. Pettersson is 26; he's still two years from his peak. Miller, who is having a terrible year both personally and professionally, needs to shut his yap; he's on the downward slide in his career; if they are going to part with one of them, they should move Miller while he still has some value.

Having seen every NHL game in the career of John Gibson, hes still a great goalie above the average. There is no doubt in my mind he is an upgrade over Skinner. In the last 3 to 4 season he was left hang to dry and battled through many injuries. The main point for him, he can step up his game come playoff time, i did not see that level in Skinner. If the oilers are serious about getting the Cup, they will need another goalie, if thats Gibby or someone else we shall see. How to get trade done for both teams no idea.
@Pixelplushockey9 күн бұрын
This is an interesting point of view. I struggle with this one, whether he's still a pretty good goalie or he's washed up and the Oilers should avoid him. I kind of agree he might be an upgrade on Skinner though, and since the Oilers are clearly Stanley Cup contenders and proved that after last season there's certainly an argument for what you're saying.
@alexs7999 күн бұрын
Garbage franchise? You make it sound like the Oilers weren't getting #1 pick in the mid-2010s. It's called a rebuild. Also, Gibson's stats don't show how bad the team in front of him has been. They were in the top 5 in getting penalties for the past 5 years and giving up the most opposite shots on the net. It wasn't a walk in the park for him. Either way, I don't think the deal will go through since he has years remaining on his contract, and there isn't much from the Oilers to give for the Ducks to retain money. At this point, they are already fighting to meet the minimum salary.

The biggest problem the Jets have is they've been a "contending" team for years and the poor G.M. has been suckered into a long list of trades that were supposed to get them over the hump. As a result, the Jets prospect pool is depleted and is middle of the pack at best. As long as they have Helleybuck in goal, they have to be a threat. Personally, I'd be thrilled to see any Canadian team win, even the Leafs! lol.

I would say the jets prospect pool is very good for the placing they get in the standings every year, lambert is a future top 6 centre, salomonson a future top 4 d man, yager a top six winger, Chibrikov, He, Walton, Barlow etc it’s quite good
@canuck_gamer335911 күн бұрын
@Lachylego Certainly they aren't without prospects. I just meant that it's part of the game, when a team contends for several years, the GM is compelled to try to add to the roster at the deadline and that has a price. I am a Habs fan, but if the Canadiens can't win the Cup, I surely would love to see the Jets win! I'm behind them all the way and I think they have a great chance as long as have Hellebuyck in goal.
