I found this song about a month ago while just clicking on random oscilloscope videos of different songs. Super super glad I found this one :D I’ve been obsessed with Madou Monogatari/Puyo Puyo and every time I listen to this, I’m reminded of it. Thanks for uploading this to spread the awareness of what the PC-98 can do, and how talented this composer is!

Umemoto-san was a bloody genius! If you've not already, look up some of his other work, Xenon and Yu-No are stand-outs.

The intro reminds me of Angel Island from Sonic 3. I would not be surprised if this had an influence on Sega's composers, as there are a number of Umemoto's lines that found their way into Sega games for the Genesis and Saturn.

sadly, chiptune that goes beyond envelopeless noise, square waves and bitcrushed samples is somewhat obscure compared to the more well known aforementioned stereotype or idea of chiptune or other music genres...

The YM2608 Is Almost the Same as YM2612+SN76489 PSG (Without Noise)
@GXP30002 жыл бұрын
The SSG channels on the YM2608 are actually interchangeable between square channels and noise channels, so in a way it's better than the SN76489.

@pc-98love392 жыл бұрын
I've recently released a translation of Umemoto's commentaries from RST Music Disk for PC-9801 Vol.3 at pedipanoldocs.netlify.app/ume/about/ , worth a read if you're a Ryu Umemoto fan. Since I linked to youtube videos in there, I was already planning on uploading tracks that weren't on youtube yet, but now that AccelJoe's channel has been taken down, I'll get to the ones only they had uploaded eventually.

I saw an image of this city landscape on twitter and googled the game. Your video was one of the first results. I gotta say, daaaamn, this game has mood for days. The pixel art is gorgeous, they made pretty good use of it. The music sets the mood for a cyberpunk mystery adventure with some horror tones. I am so glad I found out this game exists.
