The fact that the clone wars turned them into idiots for comedic relief hurts. Sure it was fun, but they weren’t ever supposed to be that way. In the original movies they talked less and didn’t say dumb stuff for the audience to laugh at. They weren’t very effective against main characters on screen, none of the droids really were. But they were deadly with numbers.

My own headcanon: Droids are given irrationalities and personalities to minimize the odds that they turn up like all other 100% logical AI in sci-fi (just ask Dune and 40k). The programmed stupidity of the B1s makes them the least likely to revolt and makes them functional and dynamic troops for general warfare, I wouldn't be surprised if the B1s were reprogrammed to seem more innocent and silly during the Clone Wars (they were still stupid in Ep 1, but not silly) to counteract Republic Propaganda about the CIS's soulless and cruel droid armies. The B2 is a more ambitious design and would require more frequent memory wipes, but would be worth it considering their superiority to B1s. BXs are even higher on the list in terms of quality but are balanced by their being given a slightly more emotional and aggressive personality than the B2s. Tactical droids, being the least logically restricted of the CIS armies are thus not equipped for combat to minimize the amount of damage they could do if they revolted and also require the largest upkeep but are able more than any sentient in the SW galaxy to analyze and strategize the best path to victory.

That actually is a fun matchup the B1 came up with. Droideka vs Magna Guard. My credits are on Magna Guard myself. Much smarter, tougher and can block blaster fire if I’m not mistaken plus probably would cut through their shields. Droideka’s guns are canonically classified as light dual cannons so theres that. Maybe blocking wouldn’t work then. Idk.

This „hello“ gets me every time hahaha We need R2-D2 to reprogram them to be on the good side, so they can be funny while on the good side hahah.
