It is also telling that the game required you to do a quick time event, an event that is believed to be where Kratos is trying his hardest, to push Ccalliope away. It shows the sacrifice that he made and how hard it was for him.

I agree. A parent would go through many things that are difficult, but a child is not one of them. Kratos loved Calliope so much that he regretted of killing her blindly that day while under the command of his mentor, Ares. As Kratos once said to Atreus, the gods spread nothing but misery onto others.

Editing those flash backs in makes this hit so hard, especially since I recall playing that exact event on my PSP over a decade ago.

He loved her so much that he in retrospection would’ve been willing to trade all of creation just for even a couple of minutes with his daughter… Man, and people say Kratos was heartless before, he was always emotional and a loving father, but as Tÿr eloquently said, he was hurt and handled his losses unskillfully

So True. Kratos wanted to have a life of peace, but the gods of Greece made it harder it pushed Kratos to the limit. His rage and brutality made him more dangerous that the gods had no idea what they’re in for. Kratos has been through hell and his story reminds me of Anakin. Two warriors that were slaves all of their lives, and their anger and rage turned them into destroyers. But, they made the decision of fighting for their loved ones to regain freedom and give people hope.

His wife’s and especially his daughter’s deaths were a huge part of why Kratos was ruthless and unforgiving to any living thing in his path. I wish they brought them up a lot more or had Kratos meet them in Valhalla

It must be a weird feeling for kratos in this situation when you have two kids born from a destruction of your own life path. On one side, the loss of one allows the other to exist. But can you still regret the loss of the old if it brought you the current one as a result. Or could you give up and regret the current one becuase it only happened due to the loss of the other and prevent you from fully connecting with the new child because of the circumstances that allowed it to happen. It's such a weird mindset to wonder about.

Imagine if the flute song played while he was talking to her, but it is as loud as the ambient noises, not loud but noticeable

Man, it’s refreshing seeing him talk about the tragedy of all his misdeeds and lost family, surely he didn’t miss anything. DID YOU THINK ID FORGET?! WHERE IS THE LOVE FOR DEIMOS?! HE WAS YOUR BROTHER. FUCKING THANATOS KILLED HIM IN FRONT OF YOU WHILE YOU WERE TRYING TO SAVE HIM! RUN ME MY DEIMOS.

Valhalla summons the things Kratos has regrets about. I don't think he regret saving Deimos his brother, or killing Thanatos.

Would have been better if the door which his younger self was sitting was actually his wife and daughter.

Valhalla would mainly bring illusions. However, it might have brought Kratos deeper peace to truly see His daughter and wives again (including Faye). Not as illusions, but their actual souls. For Faye to reveal all her secrets, and for Calliope and her mother to see the man he became.
