Ijust got my first Japanese ratchet, Ko-Ken 3/8 zeal..... It is nice with low back-drag. Not as smooth overall as my Snap On. The Koken came from Japan with no lube.... I put a few drops of light 3 in 1 oil which smoothed it out a bit. What do you use for lube on the Koken?
@carrepairandtoolsvideos4 күн бұрын
Its weird that its not that smooth as you said. Coz my ko-ken rachets are the smoothest then the rest even snap-on. I used super lube for the ko-ken

@@carrepairandtoolsvideos I finally placed on order the Hazet 914-18 breaker bar. I was trying to remember how long I want it and it seems like 30+ years. I like how the yoke on the drive end is so very large, seems like a very good idea. It was on offer for $86 and that is way lower than I ever seen it (normally $120 to $140 USD). So I may have it by Christmas.
@carrepairandtoolsvideos7 күн бұрын
@@EdAtoZ Actually its pretty strong breaker bar. Just like you said the yok side is pretty thick and strong. Have you tried extendable hiper ratchet of Hazet pretty strong and versatile ratchet
@EdAtoZ7 күн бұрын
@@carrepairandtoolsvideos I have the Hazet 916HPG extendable ratchet that was last year Christmas present. One point on that ratchet the first heavy use for it was breaking off a wheel stud on a 1/2 half ton pickup truck (the lug nut was rusted to the stud we bought a new stud an nut but had to break the old wheel stud to get the tire off. Two large guys but we did it and the ratchet is fine. The Hazet ratchet I do wish it was a flex ratchet. I also wonder would Hazet make 3/8 dr ratchet like the 1/2 dr 916HPLG ? I have a lot of breaker bars, This one I just wanted it since I saw it all those years ago.
@carrepairandtoolsvideos5 күн бұрын
@@EdAtoZ Woww thats impressive. I also use similar ratchet as a breaker bar and never got into any problem so far. Yeah, it would be nice to to have flex head mechanism on that. 3/8'' would be sweet if the come up with that. I talked to the Hazet people and they said that they dont have no plans for flex head ratchet in hiper series in near future.

Good video. Couple things. Break the top mount nut loose while it’s still mounted in the tower. Much easier than when the strut is out. Grease the bearing in the mount. It is easily removed when unbolted, and the bearing is accessible on the bottom side of the mount. Also, that particular strut compressor is the only one that will compress a BMW spring enough to replace the strut. You have to be able to pull from the top side of the strut mount to get things compressed enough.

Car Repair, Question what do you use to clean your tools ? I like the tube a towels. I do fine that comfort grip plus your hand size round the rubber grip some times is to big and a bare steel ratchet reduces this size. I don't fine that I use the standard length 1/2 dr much any more, if I go to my 1/2 dr ratchet I grab one of my 15inch to 24inch long ratchets. Is their something you use the standard length 1/2 dr for.
@carrepairandtoolsvideos11 күн бұрын
I clean my tools with brake cleaner and and wd 40. Wd40 works for me good. My go to handle is comfort grip. I mostly use 3/8" drive but I like to collect 1/2" ratchets from different brands. But enjoy using 1/2" drive even where 3/8" should be used 😀 This one looks cool and bit different so I bought that :D

Car Repair, this is off subject but you may like it. SK was a 100 year old USA tool brand that move to China last year. I got the China made SK 3/8 dr 216 position ratchet just to check it out. I decided to test the China made SK 216 position ratchet. I put a deep wall 19mm socket on the ratchet and put it on one lug-nut. Understand I am a fat guy at 330 lbs. and I stand on it, as in I put one foot on the ratchet and climbed up on the car so the only thing holding me up was the ratchet. I then checked the ratchet and did this 2 more times. The ratchet is just fine, no change.
@carrepairandtoolsvideos13 күн бұрын
Thats a surprise. SK definitely makes quality ratchets. I have heard so much good things about this brand. Well, made in China does not always mean bad. Its just how company take quality measure seriously. Bahco, facom, wurth etc are made in China now a days and most of their tools are not bad. Although they are not the same they used to be but still they good value for the price. But good to know you did that experiment and proves the quality of SK tools. Thanks for sharing your experience :)
