I'm only aware of this song because YOYOKA's band "Knockout" covered it. (Knockout's singer does better vocals. And of course, YOYOKA's drumming is second to none.) But you can have that growling howling. That stuff just sounds demonic.

I watched your vid on vicarious and this, first decent reaction/analysis I have seen. Spot on Maynard is just another instrument (when I want Maynard focus I go to A Perfect Circle). I know you are a singer but it's worth noting Maynard comes in after Danny/Adam/Justin have done the instrumentals, and very little changes when Maynard comes in. Danny is widely recognised as best drummer of all time, Jones typically within top 5 axmen. But Justin does not get enough credit for his input, great bass player and song (musician) writer - many of the "what's that" sounds come from him not just Danny's crazy electronic drums and synths. But, Maynard's beautiful vocals and ambiguous lyrics do really complete the magic.
