Janurary 2nd, 2025. The reason I'm watching this one back in it's entirety is right at this moment @4:06:00 That moment, right there. You'll never forget it & as a Bloke watching from the other side of the world, neither will I. I had tears the fist time watching this, just as I do now so many years later. This video right here is why I miss what you have shared over the decades, There is no replacement for you mate, there never will be. Thank you more than I can ever say Bruno. Thoughts on the Wing. In my deepest moments I look to the Sky, for that I'm sure will hold me up high One's heart is met with joy & love, to be free with the birds & the clouds above Soar like an Eagle, dive from above & behold the mysteries of what surrounds us From the ground below & to Skies beyond, we gaze in wonder at what it might become.. That aside, Back to the video. Cheers. Have a great 2025!

Your thoughts and words are quite heart warming. Thanks for taking the time to say hi and share your experience. Crazy you are willing to spend the entire flight with me. It still is one of the highlights of my life (not just flying) and I'm so glad I was able to capture it and share it with you. Take care and have a wonderful 2025!!!

Where can I learn more about thermals?
@nutcase00017 күн бұрын
Are you essentially spiraling higher inside a thermal? And, is a thermal where warm air is rising?
@randytolle67067 күн бұрын
Greased landing. Some of mine were like that. Sometimes the rented glider needed to be back and the thermals were still good. Some landings not so smooth on days when the wind socks pointed at each other. LOL Once I landed and the wheel slowly came up to landing speed. No chirp.

so the cloud less sky tells you there is no lift right .then you didn’t have a wind from the north to give you mechanical lift is that correct . just trying to learn from those with experience.thanks.

I know this was posted 8 years ago, but I love these full length videos! Glider flying looks like so much fun! I'll probably get into it when I land (pun intended) a job in the major airlines.

Sick, Dude. I've taken my Side by Side to Kelly Point on the Arizona Strip (The most far south point on the North Rim). I know all about the emotions seeing the beautiful, sacred place. Seeing it from above like that, I could only imagine.

Look at the woolen yarn on the canopy; he was never flying symetrical.

Hey Bruno. Way too much time between videos . Hope you are not burnt out from it.
@SlartiАй бұрын
My initial assessment is hot humid day at altitude.
@someonelse5847Ай бұрын
You got an expensive plane, with expensive avionics, heck even that piece of yarn on the canopy looks expensive, and then you go and buy kids walkie-talkies from Walmart??? It doesn't get more line of sight than that, between 2 planes at altitude, and still somehow it sounds like when i was a kid and my neighbour farted in his tin can with slack on the line. And that is without alternator/magnet noice, did you forget to connect the antenna?
@brunovassel8417Ай бұрын
Haha - thanks for the laugh. Agreed 100%! Glider radios suck big time. I have since purchased a new radio for this glider which only sucks but at least not walkie talkie fart sucks. Cheers!

Wow!!!! Why is winch launch so rare in the USA? Looks very effective and way less expensive than a tow aircraft fee.

Why is the glider full of water?
@GeoffMcMahonАй бұрын
I used to hang glid between 1972 and 1980 and we had no vario and the L/D was shit. Ai truely love your show. The low level recovery at the Tetons was absolutly amazing....Are you a comercial or ex navy pilot?

Thanks for the kind words! :) The good news is that I have dozens of hours worth of footage to edit and share. The bad news is I have many hours of work to make that happen. I hope to get around to sharing more videos in the upcoming months. Take care! :)

the horizontal lines on the mountains are geological formations of different material over time and yes I watched all 3 hours
@Averagebanger2 ай бұрын
dumb question but how does landing on a paved runway not screw up the wings?
@BrunoVassel2 ай бұрын
Great question. Gliders have either a small skid or wing wheel at the tip to protect the wing as the glider slows down and the wing drops to the pavement.

Flying this way while talking about safety is ridiculous tbh. You can fly how ever you want. But don’t tell us something about safety while doing so.

"That was some strong turbulence right there; glad I wasn't near the mountain..." Five seconds later, flies near the mountain.

What if a bird will hit wing?Do you have a parachute?
@BrunoVassel2 ай бұрын
Yes - most glider pilots with their own ships wear a parachute. The most likely reason to use it would be if you hit another glider since we tend to share lift or hit the tow plane shortly after release.

Seems too stressful. Your constantly hoping you get lift and if not your looking for a place to land.
