Thank you for introducing birds and otters from the Pasir Ris Park. I visit Pasir Ris twice a year from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. I sometimes enjoy seeing various green parrots, Asian Koels, Japanese White-eye, Jungle Fowl, River Otters, but I have never seen owls in this park. Perhaps they are well hidden among the tall trees 🌳 and branches making it difficult to see. You are so lucky 🍀 to be able to see these birds. 👍👍👍👍👍

The Spotted Wood Owl can be spotted mostly in car park D at this location or near to Toilet E area. When not in nesting season, they will fly around and can be difficult to meet them. Next time when you visit, try asking anyone with a camera to see if they have spotted. That will make your job easier. Usually, they perched very high, so can be challenging to spot if you have not spot them before. Good luck to you on your next trip.Cheers.

I must thank a senior birder who encouraged me to visit while I was at Singapore Botanic Gardens. I usually do not chase bird especially at such a ulu ulu area with no other sightings. Now that I looked back, this was at a very good location with good sighting grounds. In 2024, someone spotted a pair at Changi Bay. But it was high up the tree. So, I guess, last year sighting was the best.

Yes. A christmas present for birders last year. I am so glad I did a video after watching it again yesterday (after your comments). I still wonders where it came from and where did it go. A mysterious bird. We also joked if it will appear again during christmas. LOL. Thanks for your comment on this older video. Bring back memories. Cheers.

The blue-winged-pitta is very pretty, the colours so vibrant. Definitely one in my life list! Most colourful ones i've filmed are the blue-tailed bee-eaters. Anyhow hope your elbow is fully recovered!
@kimpriority8 күн бұрын
We were blessed to have this very sociable pitta at at neighbourhood park. Thanks to the spotter who shared it. Also thanks to birders who visited. No one go too near. So it was not scared and did not go away. I think this really helps for the bird to stay longer. I guess this was the first (from my many sighting of Blue winged pitta), one that is not afraid of human. As for my elbow, its a long process to get it heal (very frustrating). The only way to heal is not to bend the elbow too long. But with migratory season, one cannot resist holding our camera. Sometime, the nerve hurts so much after I hold my camera too tight for videoing. With our age, my only way is to accept it as part of aging LOL. Still trying not to touch the computer too much though. Thanks for asking. Hope you get to see the Blue-winged Pitta soon. Cheers!

Oh wow. Super blessed to have spotted it in the day! I thought they were supposed to be nocturnal?
@kimpriority8 күн бұрын
I think they have been spotted looking for food during day time. Just that they are usually very shy, hiding behind the trees and left fast. I was very lucky to spot this very rare spot, when it came out quite close to the boardwalk, only 2 meters away. Perhaps it was very hungry and not bothered with us. Thanks for watching by the way. 😊

Hi, good morning to you from Hong Kong 🇭🇰.The Blue-winged Pitta is indeed a beautiful bird, having its range from India 🇮🇳 to Malaysia 🇲🇾, Indonesia 🇮🇩, southern China 🇨🇳, an the Philippines 🇵🇭. In Hong Kong 🇭🇰, we have the Common Tailorbirds, but not the Ashy Tailorbird. Yesterday morning, as I strolled along the seaside promenade, I also saw a MALE Asian Koel sitting quietly in the tree.

With most medium to small sized birds, broken bones heal very quickly if infection isn't present. (Small passerines heal broken bones in 4 to 5 days!) If this Lapwing can fly, the wing has healed at an angle. The loss of flight efficiency would still reduce the bird's long term survival prospects.
@ShadowbannedandcensoredАй бұрын
The "Collared" Turtledoves (S. decaocto, S. roseogrisea, and possibly their sub Saharan and South Asian cousins) tend to engage in this behavior simultaneously, while Spotted Doves behave more like Common Woodpigeons, NA Mourning Doves, Zebra Doves, and Rock Pigeons in that one partner preens and nibbles while the other remains quiescent. Derek Goodwin coined the term "caressing" for this behavior in columbiform birds, to distinguish this from allopreening, with which it often intergrades. Doves and pigeons usually nibble rapidly over their partner's face and neck; this is less focused than allopreening, and seems to serve mainly as tactile stimulation in reinforcing their pair bond, particularly when both partners rapidly nibble at each other's faces and necks at the same time.

Strange!!!! Aren't all birds are birds including crows, mynahs, pigeons etc or are only birds that comes with a price tag or they're rare species deserve to live? It's like calling yourself an animal lovers but you eat meat??? Hmm...🤔🤔🤔
