Great review how is this compare to the NT-USB + for singing wise? I own the NT-USB + but wondering if its worth the upgrade for the 5th gen? Thanks!
@HomebrewAudioRecording2 күн бұрын
Thanks! On paper, you'll get better quality from the NT1 5th Gen. But to be honest, in practice, I think most people would be hard-pressed to tell the difference. But the 32-bit float capability of the NT1 5th gen does give you a huge advantage for singing, in my opinion. Singing involves a lot of dynamic range, and on certain songs you just need to belt it pretty loud. That risks overloading and clipping. But with 32-bit float, you can fix it after the fact by just reducing the level. No need for additional safety takes or ruining an otherwise great take because you clipped one time. Otherwise, they are both really good quality.

@HomebrewAudioRecording9 күн бұрын
I think so. I just looked at the specs for the camera, and it looks like there are multiple ways to connect an external mic. Probably the best way would be to do their option of "You can use a 3.5mm audio adapter to connect an external microphone with a 3.5mm port for audio output. The 3.5mm port only supports microphones, not headphones." I got that from a Google search. Hope that helps.

Hi, could you tell me how good this plugin is for voice? Does it distort it a lot? Also, where in the processing chain should the declicker be? At the beginning of the noise reduction or at the end after the compressor?
@HomebrewAudioRecording9 күн бұрын
Unfortunately, this plugin is no longer available, as the company went out of business. So I direct people to iZotope RX instead. And it does an excellent job. I use it for every voice editing job I do. also, I don't do a "chain." De-Clicking on a voice is something I do as I work my way through the audio - doing small sections at a time so as not to treat audio that doesn't require it.
@greendaer73919 күн бұрын
Thank you for such a detailed answer! Yes, I've heard about Izotope RX and it does a pretty good job with clicks if we work directly with the audio track. However, if you use Izotope RX De-click in online or live streaming mode, it gives a noticeable delay on the voice. And this encourages us to look for an adequate alternative.

You confused me with all your ReFir talk. You stopped shy of the last vital step. So I select an area- CHECK. Click in that area on THAT track. CHECK. When I go to copy selection, it does NOT help me to raise the volume of that section. Do I have to do something with slicing? I found that I can SPLIT tracks twice, in front and at the end. It works- but seems to take too much time. Reaper is great, but I think certain tasks could be streamlined and a bit more intuitive IMHO. I know I can customize certain things and I have but just saying. It would be good to have a better layout and bigger fonts. I guess I have to keep playing around with the customization window. I tried and some things were better, but many things like menus stay tiny. Right Clicking and selecting SPLIT SCREEN AT CURSOR helped. Eureka- I got it now. *SPLIT SCREEN AT TIME SELECTION.* Everything is so small and hard to read. They could at least BOLD odd number lines. They all run into one another- it's a bit maddening. The software is super powerful and can do many things but navigating it could be a bit more user friendly IMHO. *WHAT is the layout where all the mixers line up neatly at the bottom please?*

Now my question is, I do a lot of one take covers here. So when I’m finished, I apply my preset to the whole track. But when I want to apply a different effect to certain sections of that cake, the only way that I know is to split it, drag it down to a different track and apply the desired effect to that track
@HomebrewAudioRecordingАй бұрын
It sounds like you wouldn't need to drag those sections to a different track. You'd still split it like in the video, but then just add the desired additional effect as shown in the video to that split-out section. So those sections would get both the track FX and the take FX. Does that answer the question.

There are little fuzzy wind filter thingies you can put on them. But yeah. If you're outside in the wind, there WILL be wind noise. You can edit much/most of that out after the fact.

Great question. What I do is turn on Snapping before I drag. That is the button in the button panel at the top left that looks like a magnet (u-shaped). That will prevent the item from shifting left or right when dragging up or down. Is that what you meant to ask?

Better if you could do a global name (like... vendors) and then in the render settings have it APPEND and _1, _2 etc for each region. That way you don't have to manually name 200 or 300 regions and it'll work just fine. I wonder if Reaper 7.xx will do that.
@TruthSurge2 ай бұрын
5:33 wow, have to manually NAME each region. with 200 regions that'd be a bit of a chore. Too bad you can't select all clips and edit region and it does a GLOBAL change of all regions. Also, what if you have multiple clips on multiple TRACKS? Is it going to make a region correctly? I don't think it will. It won't know you want the earliest start and the latest start from MULTIPLE clips across tracks to be set as one region. But at least this is a way to do it if you know you need to render them out more than once or possibly more than once. thx for the explanation.
@HomebrewAudioRecording2 ай бұрын
That is a use case that is way more complicated than the kinds of jobs I was referring to. Did e-learning exercises all on a single track. Also, you're correct that manually naming takes longer. In my case, the client specified what the file names should be. So I had to do it that way. But Reaper is capable of several flexible ways to name files based on regions using wildcards and so on.
@TruthSurge2 ай бұрын
@@HomebrewAudioRecording After watching your vid, I tried some stuff and ultimately, what can work for multitrack is to create clips as you showed at least on ONE track and that one track should be the EARLIEST or LATEST, not middle, so you can later drag ONE END of each region to extend it properly. THEN since you select only clips in ONE TRACK, you can use that action you showed to create all the regions and it will auto-name them as well (like vendors_1, vendors_2) once you render with the $ wildcard variable. So, it is okay. I still have to drag each region but that's not too bad. Now, if I need special names, well, I can do that in reaper or just rename in file manager outside after render. Thanks for the tut! I do voice acting for a living so usually I only have one track (mono voice) but sometimes I do effects and monsters etc so if I need multitrack, I use Reaper so this will help me really only if I need to RErender if they don't like the effect etc. But now I know how! thx!!!
