SCH GOOD CONTROL! I love how all the attacks are made lightly but enough to register that it is a proper hit! i do that quite often and i though i was doing it wrong! great spar!
@SchildwachePotsdam5 күн бұрын
Thanks a lot! :D I think good sparring should always leave both fencers healthy and a bit richer in experience^^ and as long as the body & cutting mechanics are in place, there is no need to strike hard.

Will this work with 2 shorter swords? Two 20" blade swords (what I have) vs. a 36" blade longsword (which I spar against the most). Currently I practice Kali. I'm wondering if this approach would be more effective.
@ChrisWilliams-hm1nx23 күн бұрын
I prefer one motion. As I use two swords. Learning a lot from your videos on that. Thanks.

Love the idea of an open air or outdoor fencing club! But where do you go when the weather doesn’t permit or the space is unavailable?

Very nice! Rapier and cape is tough to do well since both of the fencers are trying to entangle the other's rapier in the cape. Great to see the cape throw!

I'm a little late to the game. What do you use to add the rim to the riot shield?
@SchildwachePotsdam26 күн бұрын
its a car door protection rim or edge protection. Rubber lined with metal to clamp better to the rim =)

You can read the instructions. Does that mean you can do it? Of course not. You must do it. Sparring can only gain so much before poor habits develop from the Game that is sparring. Can you actually fight? Do you know the real feeling of fighting? How can you gain that feeling? Have you ever faced a real blade in real life? It is not like sparring. I mean no insult, I’m sure you are skilled. But we all need to consider these questions

Nice review, Stephan. I'm looking to buy the same (different colours 😄), including the Plastron. Btw, I have not hated the word "capacity" more than I do now... it hits to close for comfort. 😅 But seriously, I'll check the dimensions carefully, no point to have a jacket that inhibits your arm movement in sidesword (or any other HEMA weapons).
@SchildwachePotsdam26 күн бұрын
Thanks! I'm really liking this jacked long term, and choosing the XL back them was a good idea. I wear my elbow and arm-guards underneath, since i have room in the arms and the movement is awesome ;-) - Stephan

The double tempo parry then repost is definitely the easier learned and preformed action, but I can see the countratempo definitely has its use, if you can nail the timing or surprise your opponent.
