I am so sorry for your loss of baby Brixton. I can only imagine how difficult it has to be to process such a tragedy. Brixton was so beautiful & while I know words don’t do a lot, I sincerely hope that your daughter is able to find some peace in her own time. (All above said with love, but sometimes it’s hard to know exactly what words to use. I hope I did not say anything wrong)🫶🏼

This was great! Thank you so much for the in depth look. I’ve been following you for about 8 years now (back when I was researching cloth diapers for my first baby) We knew we wanted to use ABEKA for at least the first few years because I wanted to teach cursive first. My child is getting ready for second grade now but I like to research and plan ahead. I’m currently using the parent led system but I’m looking into possibly switching to videos for the future. Thank you again for your time and for the thorough review!

I totally understand that not everyone can Homeschool. Private school is a great option, too, and a wonderful education for your daughter! Yes, you could totally use the art curriculum separately for weekends/ fun extra art! You'd just have to purchase the Art Book (from Abeka, or you can find them on places like Mercari for cheaper), and then the Art Box for whatever grade your daughter would need. :-) I think that's a great idea! Thank you for watching and commenting!! 🩷

Man I was surprised by Cruz being in kindergarten even though he's the same age as my son. This is really cool art box. I really like that it comes all in one box instead of every week or biweekly.
@jessisblessed66892 ай бұрын
He's in Kindergarten 4, so essentially, it's early kindergarten for 4 year olds or extended preschool. 🩷 So He's just starting some basic school :-) He already knows all his letters and letter sounds, he's interested in how things are spelled, and is starting basic addition so I felt he was ready for a simple Kindergarten program. But all kiddos are different, and every family is different, which is what I love about homeschooling! You decide what works for your family 🩷 The art boxes are great! They are typically used once per week with Abeka's curriculum, but they can pull it out whenever they want to do any Art Project, and the convenience is the best part!

when you're not filming how long does this take you to do for each student?
@jessisblessed66892 ай бұрын
That's a great question! Once you get going you start moving pretty quick, I'd estimate it's about 10-15 minutes per book,depending on how many distractions you have, how organized you are, and how much of a perfectionist you are. :-) My son has a TON of new 4th Grade books so I've been working on his intermittently for a few days, but my other two don't have nearly as many new books, so I'll get their's completed in an hour or two. :-) . Thank you for watching!

So glad to see you! We used Abeka when my son was young. Boy they have come a long way since then. He's an adult now.
@jessisblessed66892 ай бұрын
Thank you! How cool that you used Abeka! I've seen some really fun comparisons of the same Abeka books, from 1990 and then a current edition, and the thing that surprised me the most was that they were virtually identical! Other than obvious changes to the aesthetics of the books, they're almost the same books! But it makes sense, Abeka really is tried and true! How is your son doing these days? Probably awesome if he was homeschooled! Thank you for watching and commenting it means a lot!! 🩷
@darlaann16102 ай бұрын
@@jessisblessed6689 I'm really proud of my son. He's an adult now, and doing well. He has autism and back when he was young there really wasn't help for kids like him. That is the reason I homeschooled him. He did well. I used the Abeka program and added extra science kits from Acorn Naturalist, I think that is what it was called. They had alot of fun nature sections.

@mrs.g440210 ай бұрын
I have seen a lot of reviews from people saying they love Abeka BUT, one subject or another isn't a great fit for their kid in certain grade levels. I would honestly just think that his grade level of...was it language arts?...just isn't a good fit for him right now.

I'm so sorry! Life was too hectic, and I had to step away from KZbin for a while, but the (sorry, kinda long) answer is that he was having a hard time paying attention to the videos. I tried TGATB with him for the first quarter last year, and although I didn't hate it, it was just not for us. It is beautiful, but they introduce new concepts very quickly, and the child is supposed to just jump in and get it. There's very little "teaching." It felt more like a workbook you'd get from Walmart, just prettier and with some wording for the parents. The first unit "test" was so all over the place Gunner even commented about it. There were things in the unit test that he wasn't taught, or they'd drill simple concepts way too much. They also teach phonics in an entirely different way than Abeka. We'd spent the last 3 years drilling the special sounds Abeka teaches, and I found myself deviating from TGATB a lot. It just was NOT for us. After that, Gunner was begging to go back to Abeka, and I was too. I ordered his 3rd grade stuff, and we just picked up right at the lesson Georgia was on (approximately lesson 45), and he did great. He jumped right back in. I did start teaching him many of the lessons rather than having him watch the videos, which he really does better with. So now we do a mix of videos and parent-led with Abeka for Gunner. I absolutely love that TGATB is an option for families, and their generosity at offering their curriculum for free is amazing. It just doesn't work for us, unfortunately. I have briefly tried TGATB and Gather Round, and I keep coming back to Abeka. Nothing compares to how thorough it is, how academically strong it is, and how my children really thrive with it. :-) Thank you for the question, and sorry it was such a late answer. Stay Blessed! ❤️
