My biggest tip is to go on Sunday if you’re not a “people” person. I have been on both Saturday and Sunday, and on Saturdays I have been stuck in the barns not able to see anything or walk because people are so crammed in. Yeah there is a risk you won’t be able to get what you want on Sunday but it’s a risk I’m always willing to take. Also, you mentioned the apple cider donuts but another hot tip is bring someone who doesn’t like yarn to hold your spot for you 😉 My partner’s only job at these events is to secure food while I frolic around

I am not going (would love to one day!) but happy to learn everything about it

Just a tip with the "wine barn" Many will let you purchase and then put your name on a bag and you can go back and pick it up later. We go when its slower and then just pop in and pick it up when we are ready to leave

I have attended Rhinebeck many times, living less than 60 miles away. Sadly, I can’t make it this year, but these are my suggestions: - if coming from the south, be sure to travel into Rhinebeck from the south. I live across the Hudson and found the traffic across the Rhinecliff bridge then to the fairgrounds very heavy. Not so driving up on Rt 9. -/we bring snacks and water. Food while tempting is expensive, lines are long. Instead afterward, we head to a favorite restaurant on the way home - make a list of what you really want, go there first. - if you want the tote, which changes each year, order it in advance. Then you wait on a far shorter line to pick it up. Last year, then had few to none to sell day of the fair. I was stopped by a number of people, asking where can I get the bag. There is nothing like going to Rhinebeck, the unbelievable display of knitting/crocheting artistry. One of the few places you feel like you are with “your people”. Have fun, I’ll be there next year!

Your episodes are always so enjoyable and this one was fantastic! I’m not going to make it to Rhinebeck this year, but I’m saving this video for the year I will make it! Thanks for all the great tips!

Hiking boots are also usually waterproof and can offer better foot support than rain boots. Or things like Blundstone's are also a good rainbow type option. I have bundstone like boots from sorrel and I have a lot of feet issues I can wear them all day long with tons of walking or even some hikes.

Personally, I have found brioche shawls are a fun way to combine two yarn colors that work together and is just an alternative to colorwork. I am working on a What The Fade shawl right now with just two colors and no fading. I just think it's a fun way to see both yarns together.

My favorite favorite shirt of all time is an old, beat up black crop top that was a thrift store special 10 years ago. It's well loved and had accumulated lots of holes and bleach stains. Last year I bought a speedweave and have had such a blast with visible mending to it! In mending it I've made it such a fun piece and extended the life of my most loved garment. Visible mending is a win-win!

Your makes never disappoint, always so beautiful, especially the colours you choose! And the ladies upstairs in the salon are going LOVE their gifts! How awesome and sweet <3 You give me inspiration for fancy sweaters. How lovely. I mainly traditional crochet, a little Tunisian, and am just learning how to knit. I love that you combine knit and crochet, it speaks to my heart and I love the fabrics it creates so much. Also, I can't wait to see how your braids spin up! They're going to be stunning oh my gosh! Rhinebeck sounds amazing, I hope you guys have a fantastic time. I would love to see you talk more about it, especially as someone who's never been able to go. I'd love to hear more from you. Much love to you Hayley, and byeee Chicken Darling lol <3 -S. <3
