I love how you adapted your sweaters pattern! I think it is also important to keep in mind (especially in raglans) that row gauge plays a huge part in armhole depth. For instance, if you adapt an aran weight pattern to fingering, you may end up with the correct bust size, but the increases would happen over a shorter length vertically, which can make the armhole depth much smaller. Which is completely unrelated to and out of the control of even the best pattern writers. But this method is great for sport to fingering or projects close in gauge, and I will definitely be adding it to my tool box! ❤

Not really a question-more of a thanks! I started watching you and Sock when I first started knitting about a year ago and then watched all of the woolies episodes. You all inspired me to learn to use a spindle and introduced me to the really beautiful, independent artists and dyers of the fiber world and I'm obsessed and just so happy. Also took your advice because you were so kind to hep me out on IG and recommended I hold some mohair with the lace weight yarn my husband got me and I'm currently working up a really pretty cowl! Thanks for all the lovely content I enjoy it very much.

Thanks for your explanation about adjusting the gauge on a pattern. I just wanted to share here the way I do it because they way you do would mean having to buy a pattern for access to the stitch counts. As most patterns offer the finished bust measurements in the description of the pattern, my method allows you to calculate yarn requirement before buying the pattern. So here is how I do it: I devide the stitch gauge in the pattern by my stitch gauge. Then I multiply the finished bust measurement for one of the size by this number to see what the finished measurement would be using my alternative gauge. Example: my gauge is 20 st but the pattern is knit at 22 st. 22/20= 1.1. Let's day the finished bust of the fourth size is 120cm. If I knit this size in my gauge of 20 st this finished bust would turn out to be 1.1 x 120 = 132 cm. You can do this calculation for all the finished bust measurements in the pattern to determine which size you would want to knit at your alternative gauge. Hope this made sense 😂

My question would be: what made you wanna become a tattoo artist? Yes, the maths totally make sense. I like doing that too since I often choose to knit with a thinner yarn than what the design calls for when it calls for DK or more, which is less my thing (not NEVER my thing but less than fingering or sport).

i’ve wanted to knit Stripes for a while now, but thought i’d like to do it in fingering weight. i’ve knit several sweaters in fingering on size 5 needles (most recently the Flip Side Tee by tanis fiber arts), so i have a ready made gauge swatch!!! thanks for the inspiration!!

So glad to have found ya again though I have to say whether solo or paired up always enjoyable to watch and anticipate more. (Sock, you're missed but I totally understand, still sending happy thoughts and well wishes your way) Q. What would you say has been your most challenging pattern or garment you've made? (I know having experience in many crafts, many options may be applicable so feel free to expand up them) What was the challenge & how did you over come it? Was there ever a yarn craft that seemed overwhelming or daunting that you put off or still put off on making or attempting to do? * For me it was socks, the components to do it, stitches didn't stress me out but the construction to ensure fit and sizing and a true proper fit that's what was overwhelming for me though I did make my first pair this year. Look forward to hearing your thoughts and what others present as questions. Beautiful lol with your stripes top reminds me of a fresh and funky lemon line in the best way. Love it! Thanks for another great episode and I'm looking forward to more insight with the sub/sizing options and learning more bout it. Try in advance.

Thanks for running thru your process. im new to knitting. i have only made the same hat pattern so far but itching to get into garment making! new to the channel and your gorgeous sweater reeled me in! would love discussion about mixing yarns and weights (2 or 3 strands together) and choosing colors vs combining solids/verigated. im inspired by "chunky" sweaters with mohair mixed in but my colors never seem great when I make swatches. PS. i love neon green and bags!

i’ve been loving the podcast so far! it’s great how you create and embrace “fugly” pieces - as a bit of a color theory obsessor myself, it’s a nice reminder that there’s something really fun about putting colors that i independently love together into a FO i can love just as much! you’ve talked about how you incorporate your love of yarn and knitting into tattoos - (how) do you see your experience as a tattoo artist show up in your knitting/spinning/quilting?

Hey Hayley! Long time no see, so glad you have continued to podcast, I love seeing what you create! One question I do have, as I have been interested in quilting and sewing. What fiber craft did you start with first, and was that a Segway into another craft?? I feel as if fiber crafts in general if you Excel at one, you may as well try another and fall into a rabbit hole of fiber arts lol! I guess this would be another question lol but is it true that older sewing machines are more dependable than newer ones, in your experience? Happy crafting my love and stay as beautiful and creative as you are 💚🧶🪡🧵

I've been watching since you were doing the Prickly Stitch with Sock. I love your vibe and that you like bright colours. I get so sick of watching knitters make everything in the same three shades of beige and dishwater white, so it's so nice to see someone else using bright colours! I love the jumper you are wearing in this video! I'm currently obsessed with bright yellow and slime green and they look amazing next to the variegated yarn. Love it! I knit a lot of lace and sometimes I get halfway through a project and realise I picked the wrong kind of yarn for the design. Like my first big lace knit, I used a really vibrant variegated yarn and it made it almost impossible to see the lace pattern. Do you have any advice for how to avoid that without knitting a giant-ass swatch? I'm too scatterbrained to do that.

Tip I never fold my sweaters in half because the fold will show when wearing it . Fold the arms in then the bottom up to the top. I also drape my knitwear over some thing flat over night to air it out and get rid of any crinkles. Then I fold it to put it away. Happy Holidays and New Year of Knitting 🎉
