I feel this is not a very strong answer though it had clear structure. First step should be to try and resolve the issue with peer product manager and discussing the trade off and the stage of the product and what problem is higher priority etc. If that doesn't work it can be escalated but escalation is generally not seen as a positive thing to do in most companies and can create some friction among the colleagues.

Q1 "Tell me about yourself" Starts replying with "That's a great question". Anyone else thinks that's odd? Don't compliment a question that's used to break the ice.

While this is a good interview, I do not like the fact it's very far from being MECE. In the user segmentation or pain points, it seems he throws ideas in the air out of the blue. I'd rather on the segmentation break it down by workout frequency (0, 1-3, 4-7) instead of motivation; and on the pain points, talk about the customer journey and at each step take a look at pain points. The rationale for picking the pain points was very subjective (fair, there is no truly objective solution), and difficult to back it up when it comes to convincing partners (engineering, marketing, senior leadership overall). Also, maybe having a doc open would have help the audience follow a bit better. This was a good way to see overall how to think about product and how to talk product internally within a company, but when it comes to an actual interview one can be sharper, more structure and cover more grounds. Thank you!

Is this a Meta/Google PM metre? Who does navigation in the app? Who does navigation in the app for parents holding kids' hands and bags with kid-related stuff? Best way to navigate in the park, same as on the tube or similar spaces, is: maps, special signs and marks on the ground, some interactivity on map stands. The app is for skipping ticket lines in kiosks, buying stuff in advance to save time and plan, and ordering additional services, like in-park rides and so on. Very poor interview. No hire.

A moonshot idea would be using Google Assistant to achieve both the two features Akshat mentioned. Also, why does chrome not have a document editor and a document/webpage summariser?

Sorry to say, but the Tell Me About Yourself and the Missed a Deadline responses were vague and not succinct at all. With these responses, there’s no way one is going to succeed in an Amazon behavioral interview

Can the segmentation here focus on usage / freq of exercise. Because as you said the segments that you did overlap. Like someone is generally focused on living healthy lifestyle as your 2nd segment but that overlap with 1st two I.e that’s why they want to do weight loss or that’s why they participate in events.

It was contradictory when she mentioned Groups are in a mature state yet she wanted to optimise for engagement. You typically optimise for engagement in earlier stages of product lifecycle

pretty sure facebook always wants to optimize for engagement. Early stage you want to optimize for growth and adoption of product

Nope - you optimize for growth and adoption in early stages of the product and for engagement in later stages. These are not mutually exclusive, only degrees of where you focus on.

When people come up with the pain points in these mock interviews, and they just make them up - I presume this is just to respond to the brainstorm like framework. But in reality if you were tasked with improving something like this at google, you would have a bunch of feedback to trawl through to help generate ideas and insights on where customers would like to see improvements right?

Damien did a great job setting up the situation and explaining very well putting on a PM hat. In practice, engineers work closely with designers both in UX research and development designs, resulting in avoiding late stage conflicts. Further, designers become aware of easier implementations and engineers become aware of user preferred designs upfront. Moreover, the product manager is no longer playing the middle-person between developers and designers. This is a good interview, but not necessarily reflective of reality.

The response to the last question "tell me about a time you failed", focuses on team failure and not individual failure which i was hoping would be the answer. I like the response since it covered the collectively failure and how the team worked to identify a solution but i also heard references to "we" a lot in that response which has personally hurt in the past , since the feedback i received was i hear a lot "we" , could you focus more on the "I", TLDR - would be good to have a failure response focus on the "I" , great answer overall

This is a great example, but for the WRONG reasons. This is an example of how someone followed a good structure and suggested solutions, BUT did not align it with Facebook's mission. Facebook's mission is to build communities, as measured by DAP/MAP and monetized SOLELY by ads (impression-based and action-based). So an authentication/appraisal service for high-value antiques, a TINY market in terms of numbers (which matters for FB ad impressions) and for which collectors rely SOLELY on personal relationships does NOT align with Facebook's mission. It would have been better to target local communities for small- and medium (sub $500 items) and foster more & deeper engagement from millions of people in local communities and provide value-added services like algorithm driven "True value" pricing based on historical prices and trends (like Edmunds, kbb for cars), rather than talking about collectors, appraisers and high-value items. You could then cite the usual engagement metrics to validate if product was successful or not. Again, the candidate did not cite any success metrics. I would fail this candidate if I were the interviewer.

Great structure for the answer, but it's not focused on KZbin Analytics, the platform that provides value to creators by stremlining their channel performance to help them grow their audience - the entire answer is built for the KZbin ecosystem in general.
