Why not just buy the IDASEN top? Its of excellent quality plywood. Had mine for 6 years now and its still good as new

My only question is how so many Tesla owners have same exact issue. To me it should be looked in. Maybe is Tesla sending over the air bugs to create issues to scam money from service. I don't know.

Ive seen this same model high centered in a snow storm up here in Canada.Theres no ground clearance making it not suitable for deep snow. I passed it in my Honda Element. I also saw a model 3 stuck because of no clearance.

im happy to drive corolla hatchback ! i dont have 3000$ to put in my car for a heat pump I thought about buying a Tesla and I canceled because it was too expensive. I did well to buy a Corolla hatchback for $28,000. I have 90,000 km and nothing to repair, only brakes for $500.

Great video and learned quite a bit from you! Just bought my 2024 LR RWD before Memorial Day! Still learning. Live in southeast Pa and occasionally get heavy snow. Any brands of snow tires you recommend! Seen some Tesla drivers using “studded” tires. Is this necessary?

I have an xt3 with the 3 stage snowblower attachment. I would never recommend it. The 3 stage just gets more clogged up. It does pretty good with light snow but not with heavy snow, it clogs up quickly and is better used as a plow. Oh by the way the auger assembly has broke each of the last two years at a whopping $800-900 fix each time. Repairs shops see them break often and have had to replace the auger assembly on many cub cadet 3 stage snowblower attachments. Dean

My last 3 cars were Japanese cars. in total maybe 700,000 km and I have spent no more than $1000 US on it. Brake Caliper, Muffler and Brake pads. that's insane! better set aside $10k just incase your Tesla needs repairs.

That is not a "heat pump". It's the A/C compressor. Looks like they sold you the Super manifold and the Octovalve unit. Keep those parts, because there are some non service components on it you can't buy separately. All 6 actuators on the front side are not a service item. You also have 3 temp sensors on the front. I'll bet money they didn't diagnose anything and sold you the complete Super manifold with the Octovalve as a CYA. Glad you got it fixed. $1K is super high for that repair. What is their labor rate ?
@JohnVanDeVoort4 ай бұрын
You're correct about the AC compressor vs. heat pump. I checked the invoice and it was stated as such. They didn't break out labor hours on this one, but I had service last month. Tesla is currently charging $215/hour for labor at the service center nearest to me (Maplewood, MN).

Hi John, do you think where the 3 cross braces join you could extend the width by moving the slider out one position and only using 2 bolts a side? Any chance you have the max distance between the legs so inside leg to inside leg? Thanks
@JohnVanDeVoort4 ай бұрын
I'm at the max width for the adjustable base. I would not recommend extending further as it would affect lateral stability. The legs are 53 inches apart (on center of leg). Distance of inside of leg to inside of other leg is 49.5 inches.

Update as we close out 2024 winter - It's been holding up since the repair so far. I'm at almost 80,000 miles. During the coldest period this last winter, it did make some odd noises (like pinging/crackling) when it ran on the coldest days, so hopefully not an indicator of impending failure. But, so far, so good.

Could you please guide me on where to get the wire required and the conduit
@JohnVanDeVoort7 ай бұрын
I used copper 6 gauge stranded wire. You can pick that up at any home improvement store. Conduit is a combination of 3/4 inch electrical metallic tubing (EMT) and 3/4 inch flexible metal conduit (FMC). Those are also at most home improvement stores as well. I purchased all my products at Menards, which is like a Home Depot in the upper midwest of the United States. Menards.com sells online too.

It is very unfortunate to have such a high repair cost so shortly after the garantue expired. But on todays Ice cars you can fear on nearly all for timing chain or belt problems at this mileage and you are between paying half of your bill if you're lucky and you heard a rattling sound fast enough or paying 3 times your bill if you haven't had any warnings and just a complete engine failure. I have experienced both, so i would like it more to be able to drive without heat than to cannot drive at all (and of course also have no heat or even seat heating while waiting for towing service)

how do you think this will do on a 30 degree grade driveway
@JohnVanDeVoort8 ай бұрын
I honestly don't think it would have enough power / traction to push the heavy plow and also clear snow going up a steep grade like that. On our small incline it does well in all but the heaviest/wettest snowfalls and when clearing the snowplow ridge at the edge of the driveway. It will do it, but often with backing up and hitting the deep stuff with short runs. I use a single weight block on the back. It is designed to accommodate three weight blocks, so traction could be better than what I have in place.

I worked for Tesla at a battery remanufacturing plant and the coolant get dirty quick because the chiller doesn't get maintained. Probably the same at the factory where the cars are built. The batteries doesn't get flushed from the particles left inside. That's Tesla for you. Lack quality control.
@MichaelrennieG8 ай бұрын
It's hard to believe there were two problems, I think there might of been the lines and they already ordered the Manifold, the Manifold looks new and has many actuators on it, no doubt one failed, the lack of people able to diagnose is no doubt a big problem,
@JohnVanDeVoort8 ай бұрын
The service guy knew is was the heat pump that failed. They 'recommended' replacing the super manifold and lines out of concern for secondary failure with contaminants thrown out from the heat pump fail.

As a TMYLR owner 3:48 I'm interested in your overall user experience throughout your ownership journey. How is your vehicle living up to what was claimed or what you expected versus reality. How is each drivers reality versus the claimed 'EVs need no maintenance'. Many of the Tesla long range ownership claims (ie. 300K miles or more) involved Model S, so eager to see how well TMY approximates some of these experiences.
@JohnVanDeVoort4 ай бұрын
I've owned it now for 4 years and 85,000 miles. Other than the AC compressor going out in Feb 2023 and a dirty radiator that caused climate control issues in April 2024, I haven't had any recent service needs. It performs great and battery degradation has been very minimal.
