Thank you for your videos. I just purchased a 24 flash last week. I have a swimming pool maintenance route currently drive an F150. Do you have any advice on an adapter for charging at a Tesla station? The Ford adapters are showing currently unavailable so I’m on an email list. Is there one you would recommend purchasing in the meantime?
@whateverfits1978Ай бұрын
@@royalpools I had all the adapters. I like the lectern one the best due to the size. It gave a little more room for the short Tesla cable. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqavp32PndKChKssi=_1wICiuN32csFEo1

Sorry no pics or video on that. I just picked a spot in the middle of the pipe probably 12-18 inches from the where you put fuel into the truck.That really doesn't have to be too precise. Just make sure it makes since once you see how it looks under there.

Are you supposed to leave that gap? Or is it fine to make contact all the time?
@whateverfits19782 ай бұрын
It's fine to make contact, but it will stiffen your ride unloaded. I like the gap so it only engages on heavier loads. this lets me tow my boat, which is fairly light, like a stock truck.

Is there a way to fix that water leak area on the back corners, after market ourselves? May the manufacturer can figure out a way? I'm surprising that tube seal across the top of the tailgate can't just be long, all the way to the edges? Other than that, and water leaks is a huge issue for me, but other than that I love this thing. But another thought: Why not keep the Diamondback, just take it off and store it inside the bed on the sides when using the 5th wheel, and then at destination putting it back on? The two ends come off easily, and just keep the tool you need to take the center support off. Thoughts?
@whateverfits19784 ай бұрын
Storing the diamondback in the bed wouldn't be an option for me since I need the space for other items. However, it is one of the few covers that keeps water out.

Please keep in mind those side chargers are the only ones Tesla's hauling trailers can use. Please use those side ones as a last resort if you can. It's frustrating to pull up with a trailer and a Tesla with no trailer is using the side supercharger with 7 other open regular superchargers. Thanks!

@mosconi03595 ай бұрын
I noticed you told another commenter about a "discounted rate" for the "plug and charge" feature. I saw that to charge your F150 Lightning it cost you nearly $30. I've been driving Teslas for 7 years now and I think the most I ever paid for charging at a Supercharger was about $24 and my battery was at 7% and I charged it to full on a road trip. Normally, it costs me between $10 to $15 to charge at a Supercharger if I'm not less than 20%. Guess you guys in non-Tesla vehicles must be paying a bit more than Tesla users to purchase your electrons. Is that right?
@whateverfits19785 ай бұрын
If you don’t have a membership, you pay considerably more. With the membership, I think pricing is pretty close to Tesla owners. I’ve had three in the past. The main difference is the size of the battery. The lightning has a 131kw pack, much larger than the teslas so it takes longer and costs more.
@mosconi03595 ай бұрын

Plug and charged is on the Ford side in the Ford Pass app. But, if you have a Tesla subscription you'll need to leave Plug and Charge off or you won't get your discounted rate.

I live in Florida and I own a 2023 Lightning too. The cost of electricity at public charging stations here is $0.56/kWh which makes paying for electricity at a public charging station more expensive than gas was for my old F-150! But charging at home costs me $0.12/kWh and I’m saving a huge amount over paying for gas by doing 100% of my charging at home.

I passed on the lightning craze and decided to wait for the cybertruck. That is, I waited for what the cybertruck promised (500miles starting at 40k). After the huge disappointment of what the cybertruck is, I am now a proud few week old owner of a platinum Lightning. I've owned many trucks and the lightning is spectacular. As you mentioned, there are a lot of different use cases so if a cybertruck meets those needs and you like it better, then go for it. For me, I needed a truck for utility. The huge frunk with power outlets was definitely a major deciding factor. I thought the Lightning prices were ridiculous, and they are, just like every other new vehicle out there. but Ford and some dealers are really pushing out discounts on these things. As you mentioned, my platinum lightning ended up cheaper than a discounted platinum ICE f150. Put all these things together and I went for it and so far I couldn't be happier. I already used it for towing a 6000lb load of dirt and I am sure I could beat a super car off the line while towing that (not encouraging people to race when towing but its that powerful). Amazing stuff and a great review. I agreed with everything you said. My only gripe so far is the software updates (Power UPs). I purchased the truck knowing a lot of the things that I didn't like were corrected in future updates (eg. battery % on gauge, pro-power on while vehicle off, charging rate on screen). I would have expected that dealers would get it updated to the latest version before handing you over the keys but my Lighting is way way behind. I'm still in the 4.1's almost a month later. I only got 3 updates in that time. Very frustrating as I would have expected it to be like an iPhone, where you go to software update and it does its thing and gets you up to date. Instead Ford decides when your truck gets an update.... One at a time..... slowly..... as weeks pass..... At this rate, I hope to be current and get the things I was promised a year later. Don't want to sound ungrateful because, one of the other reasons I bought the lightning is that I do see that they are improving the vehicle by providing these updates. I would just suggest they enforce and provide a mechanism so that dealers hand over fully updated vehicles.
