I'd say no, a few are considered II+ in the right flows. Blind falls and Sheep creek are probably the most challenging. We did rescue a kid once when he fell out of a boat that pinned on a rock at Sheep Creek and floated about a mile downstream in waders on a cold day.

It is so much fun watching you two having fun enjoying the outdoors! Another fine Ed & Sharon adventure. We've been in there twice via the west side, up the Devils Staircase and over Windy Gap - NOT RECOMMENDED if you do not have strong confidence in your climbing skills with a full pack. Lonesome Lake was our favorite and shared it with a big billy mountain goat. We also found the trout small so circled Castle Peak to get into Chamberlain Basin. Nice cutts up there. But for visuals, you can't beat Boulder Chain Lakes. Great job, as always with the video. We just returned from Idaho. It was hot. Story to follow. And ribeye? We are moving up there and you can cook for us everyday. ;-)

We agree, the Windy Gap and Devils Staircase looked like quite a scramble, but it looked like the reward of Lonesome Lake would be a good one.

My husband and I are heading into the White Clouds soon, what trail did you follow? I'm currently planning our route and want to make it to Hatchett Lake from the Chain Lakes Basin, but looks like a good chunk will be off trail
@OccidentalistOutdoors15 күн бұрын
We went in the Little Boulder Creek trail, after staying the night at the BLM campground near the trailhead the night before. It is the shortest route to the Boulder Chain Lakes and the trail takes you right by Hatchett Lake, no need to go off trail.

We’ve talked about driving the Corridor for many years but there’s always been weather, fires and more weather that deterred us. Thanks! For the video. This year’s adventure, for us, trying to retrace the Lewis and Clark routes and so far we’ve traveled along the route between Paducah and the Pacific. We even lucked onto “launch day” reenactment near Wood River, Illinois, 220 years after the departure up the Missouri River.
@OccidentalistOutdoors16 күн бұрын
Yes I could see the timing of travelling the corridor could be a challenge - you have to wait so long for the snow to melt, and then it is fire season! In retracing the Lewis and Clark route, you may be interested in the Lolo Motorway. It follows their route (roughly) across the Lolo Pass to the Clearwater River. We did that one last year as well, and it's an enjoyable few days. Here is the video we did: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGKbfHmHnb2BpJo

As with most of Idaho, this is another beautiful area. Just a quick note, the highest falls in Idaho is actually the Upper Mesa Falls at 114 ft. It is located near Ashton, Idaho and if you have never been there I highly recommend it
@OccidentalistOutdoors2 ай бұрын
We agree, Idaho is wonderful. Yes, after more research Elk Creek Falls is likely not the tallest. Not sure why there are so many claims that they are, so that mistake is our for not researching further. I'm still not sure what the tallest falls are, some claim goat falls at over 600 feet are, some claim Shoshone at over 200 feet. We'll be in the Mesa falls area later this year and we'll be sure to check them out! Either way they are all places to marvel at.

@OccidentalistOutdoors2 ай бұрын
We are glad you enjoyed it. That is a good idea, we'll try to highlight a few of the flowers and shrubs with closer shots in future videos. Black bear are definitely possible in those areas, but I wouldn't be too concerned about them. There are no warning signs or bear storage boxes that you commonly see in northern California, but I would take regular precautions.

Thanks for the Magruder corridor view. We’re going this summer and I was a bit worried about how much burned area there was. Obviously you didn’t camp in Utah because you were on your way somewhere specific because there are a billion places to camp and be in Utah. In North Dakota I hope you got to spend some time in Teddy Roosevelt national park. So many different kinds of environments and geology in a relatively small area. Not too many people except right near the visitors center.
@OccidentalistOutdoors3 ай бұрын
Yes, there is a lot of burned area as you likely observed. Lots of wildflowers and more expansive views in the burns, so not all bad in my opinion. There are even some islands of trees and nice camps in a few spots on the burned ridges. Yes, it wasn't for lack of camping opportunities that we didn't camp in Utah in 2023, that's for sure. Thanks!
