this scene is more interesting to me now then ever before. I'm quite fortunate as i get to know people in roles doing exactly what this movie is doing, I'm not surprised either as the advancement in computers has far superseeded what this movie was portraying. The problem facing the defence sector is following the instructions given the computer. They have played simulations AI vs generals and the generals are lossing.

Alan Arkin is so good in this. It's a small story about real, believable people. And Frankie Faison saying the the "old gypsy double curse" here is so fine. The whole cast is terrific. One of my favorite films of all time.

I've never believed Ally Sheedy. 'Noughts and Crosses' is not ALWAYS a tie. Especially when you play with your 6 year old daughter, or someone with ADHD.

the professor is wrong though. if humanity gets extincts from a nuclear holocaust, it will take millions upon millions of years for the planet to recover from the fallout and for another species to evolve and become sentient. But our Sun won't wait forever, at some point it will go giant and swallow Earth before the new species reach interstellar capabilities. Time even in a cosmic scale is limited and that possibility exists. So humanity is posssible the last intelligent species with the opportunity to escape this fate. And if we die, and there is no alien life elsewhere, the universe won't have anybody to witness it. It will die alone.

At the end of the day, people are all looking for the same thing, and the movie, which is a bit nihilistic and a little depressing, ends with a simple, mundane gesture that leaves the viewer with a feeling of hope, and maybe a bit more understanding, and empathy for our fellow man. Great movie!

This movie always had an undertone throughout it that always gave off a "creepy" kind of vibe. Theyre discussing the destruction of humanity which is potentially happening in not long at all.....but the mood isnt panic or suspense. Its very....calm in a way. There are suspenseful moments & such but for the most part the undertone is calm & collective. When that harminca starts playing at certain scenes it always made me feel very uneasy bc it doesnt match whats happening. This scene is a perfect example. I love this movie. Always did.

Growing up during the 80's and the cold war, the threat of nuclear annihilation was always present. There was bomb shelters everywhere, there were public nuclear alarm exercises every month, we were taught in school what to do if the nukes were coming, we all thought we were going to die in the nuclear winter that was coming afterwards. Kids today have no idea how real that threat was felt. It was just a given.

This may be the uncensored version of the 1983 flick called: "War Games." I realized that 2 high school teenagers had a hard time paying attention in class. Since they both received an f- on their tests/examination. Neither one of them said these 2 things: that was a rough examination, or I think I flunked. 🤔

I've seen WarGames plenty of times, and I suddenly only just noticed in this scene Jennifer's hand that goes on Falken's shoulder. Likely its this physical touch of warmth, reminding him of humanity (and holding his deceased son, and wife) as well as David's passionate and spirited words for hope, that confront Falken's nihilism, jointly bringing him out of his denial and stupor here. Great and subtle moment there from Ally Sheedy - don't know if it was scripted or not, but it brings a lot to this scene.
