I’m so curious about the writing my oh my😮!! Who was this made for? I mean the intended basis audience it would be pitched as appealing to… but yeah the show could’ve held its own (these days🙄) but the continued antagonism towards Tolkien fandom to the point of being satire is just a waste my goodness… and the other very basic concepts of time physics real life easily accessible rules that were just not at all taken care within any universe… when did they give up? I’m just asking because it’s concerning to think it was not a big deal when making one of the most expensive adaptations of all time showcasing the very best in visual and technical capabilities to drop the ball so carelessly is frankly insulting. Want a dark comedy great, a satire great. Tell your own new story great. But that’s not what this was…❤😂🎉

Amazon should just cut their losses and cancel the rest of the show. They'll take some heat for awhile but nowhere near what will happen if they insist on perpetuating this hot mess for 3 more seasons released over the next 4 or 5 years. Rings of Power is making the final season of Game of Throne look like the epitome of Golden Age TV. They should have selected the best, most narrative-driven moments in Tolkien Second Age lore and told them anthology style, inviting accomplished Directors and Creative Houses....not hack Showrunners and lowest bidder effects shops. Present each in a different style....from live-action to pure CGI to Stop-motion. Imagine the Rise and Fall of Numenor crafted by Laika Studios or the Founding of Moria and the fateful return of Balin..... directed by Brad Bird or Guillermo del Toro. They would still have had lots of room for "creative license" all while maintaining deference to the lore. Amazon's reach exceeded their grasp and this has turned out to be a sad waste of potential and promise.

The issues with Rings of Poop can be summarized by the writers are incompetent buffoons.

When I clicked on this video an Amazon add came up saying the pay 20 an hour and they could have gave all their employees a 10 dollar raise instead of making Trash fan fiction and call it Rings of Power.

None of the rings were made for men or dwarfs, they were made by and for the elves of Hollin. Sauron gave them to men and dwarfs after he destroyed Hollin and recovered the 16 lesser rings, but the idea that they were specifically made for men or dwarfs is just totally wrong.

I don't think the book they continued to go back to is written by Tolkien.

Payne and McKay are not qualified for an elementary school drama production. They don't even have basic critical thinking skills, never mind advanced show production skills. Layer on to that their conceit in forcing their personal agenda onto an existing work and you have a disaster that flushed $1 billion down the toilet.

The have the right over LOTR and TH ,which includes all the lore info given throughout LOTR especially the chapter “ the council,of Elrond “ . And far more importantly ,they have right over the Appendices to ROTK ,and in Appendix B they have literally chronology of the second age year by year of the events . They ignored that .

Surprised the filthy scum, the writers not the Orcs, haven't changed the name of 'The Nine' to "The Nine Rings of Persons" "Look to the North for Durin and his kin.", even though Khazad-dum lies South of both Season 1 & 2's versions of Eregion?

I know from certain individuals who have connections to the show that allegedly, it was a nightmare behind the scenes. people were fired left and right, writers couldn't agree what story they wanted to tell, the show was originally about a young Aragorn, some wanted to adapt the Silmarillion but didn't have the adaption rights to the book, the Tolkien estate giving them a long list of things they could and couldn't do on the show such as referencing the movies (even though the showrunners wanted to connect ROP to the movies) writers being fired because they wanted to insert more woke elemets into the show and was met with disapproval, Tolkien selling out to Bezos on his tantalizing and money venture in making LOTR into the next Game of Thrones (which we all know how highly successful that was) a Tolkien scholar being fired, COVID19 impacting everything, the originally being 10 episodes but somewhere being changed to 8 instead, Jeff Bezos allegedly visiting the set and was furious on what he saw and demanded changes to be made in the middle of shooting. All in all, this show was produced with everyone's hands tied behind their backs, not really knowing what they wanted to do and the clock was ticking, and the best they could come up with was fan fiction.

What i believe is even more underhanded is, due to the fact that the entire RoP production team disapproves of Tolkeins stark "white" characters, that they intentionally have written Tolkeins original characters to downplay them from the lore in order to prop up their own made up dei characters. For marketing. For virtue signaling. As deflection to criticism. Equal opportunity which is code word for infinite funding. Which, as a black man, i reqlly should take full advantage.

It's so cute when people attack The Rings of Power for doing THE EXACT SAME THINGS that people praise Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Lord of the Rings for doing. They are both desecrations of Tolkien's works. You are all so full of shit.

This show is such a disaster. Not only did they utterly fail to understand and adapt the lore, even taken as 'random generic fantasy' this show is a hot mess. Terrible lines and dialogue, nonsensical plot, badly written characters and inconsistent world building. Honestly I feel bad for the cast. There are a lot of talented, good actors involved trying their best, god bless them, but you just can't make a turd sandwich good to eat, no matter how fancy the mustard.

By the second age, she was Elrond’s MOTHER-IN-LAW and already the wisest of remaining elves, rooted in magic, older than Elrond and Celebrimbor, and in a ruling position at Eregion until she perceived Celebrimbor’s resentment of her position (as well as Celeborn’s) at the goading of Anatar, for whom she had nothing but open scorn. She was not a warrior-princess. 🙄 It was then that she departed Eregion ahead of time and went through Moria to establish her dominion at Lorien. Everything is wrong with this cheesy show.

I've been watching your videos for a while and wanted to thank you for criticising the show based on the writing rather than resorting to the anti-woke rage-baiting grift that seems rampant on social media these days. It's a breath of fresh air!

A billion dollar series, yet everything looks cheap. No major actors, and those few who are experienced are wasted by their crappy lines. Almost feels like this whole project is a money laundering scheme. Theres no way this series has made any money.

And these writers clearly think they are better writers than Tolkien.

They turned Tolkien works into VERY poorly written YA fiction. Its an utter disgrace and what is proven is that McKay and Paine are PERFECT for Hollyweird. I am sure they have a long and mundane career ahead of them ruining IP's and writing Trash fires they can call shows.

To top it all off, if Sauron is dependent of Celebrimbor to make Rings then how the F does the One get made?! And they've made the power of the Rings derive from external McGuffins like Mithril rather than the lore and substance of the makers. The whole point of the One is that Sauron allows the bulk of his own natural power to pass into it, its power derives from him. Hence the whole point of Frodo's quest: Destroy the Ring and you essentially destroy Sauron, he's left with insufficient power to effect the world. We'll see, but RoP seems to have undermined the whole premise of the LOTR.

The whole show leaves me bemused now, Cirdan shaving is hard to fathom other than a malicious dig at people who like Tolkien, a curious way to run the show, I was angry at the start but just going to leave it at never spending another dime on prime video and perhaps laughing now and then at the general casserole of nonsense that is ROP

One of the many things which I do not get is (caveat: I have only read LOTR so I am not strong in the ways of lore): in ROP, these rings are being made with such speficity of number yet the show has shown only four wearers, only one of whom seems chosen (King Durin). Who are the candidates for Men? ROP has not shown us 9 candidates. Theo? Farazon? I dunno this show has lost me with its obtuse, covert complexity combined with its shallow, gaudy stories.

Payne and McKay are orcs. Deep down inside they know it too. Orcs can perceive beauty and skill, but they can't create it. Their attempt at mimicking Tolkien has turned into a gross mockery. Now, I wonder if in their frustration, they have grown to hate Tolkien and just want it destroyed because it's a constant reminder of their own mediocrity.

I think, even worse than the whole disregard for the lore is the complete contempt for fans and intended audience in believing that as long as the name LotR is on the label, everyone will just consume it and be grateful for the kindness of Amazon and the involved parties to provide new fodder for us idiots

I think their biggest mistake was they didn't pay a real fantasy author to write the screenplay for RoP. WIth a billion dollars to spend, they could have paid for a real script instead of this disaster. What a wasted opportunity.

At this point, I can only assume they believe their best plan is to tap into the outrage economy

"Nerd of the Rings" has been extremely generous with his interpretation of the lore and what Tolkien has written in order to justify the nonsense happening in this show.

Celebrimbor and the smiths of Eregion crafted many rings of power. After the sack of Ost-in-Ethil, Sauron gathered all the rings he could find (16) and then he gave them to the Dwarves and Men. He didn't give Celebrimbor a shopping list of how many were for this race and that race... Sauron only learned of the three Elven rings when he felt them briefly after making the One. Such contrived bs basically creating the rings in the order of the Ring Verse because they are just dumb hacks!

I'm %99 sure that, IN THE BOOK, all the rings were made FOR ELVES. The purpose of the rings was to preserve the Elven kingdoms. It was Sauron who took them all back during the siege of Eregion because the Elf Lords had the Will to take them off when they sensed The One. It was Sauron who then distributed them. The rings did not have the same effect on Dwarves but it still worked in Sauron's favor.

Elaine, I can't begin to express my heartfelt gratitude for your dogged persistence in suffering to watch this (( in my personal opinion ))sacrilegious mockery of Tolkien's work.. May I suggest, as a palate cleanser, listening to the (( c.1992? )) BBC radioplay adaptation of Tolkien's classic trilogy? ...Amongst the stellar ensemble of actors, a much younger Ian Holm portrayed Frodo Baggins...

They'll harvest and bastardise unrelated lines from Tolkiens works and Cate Blanchett's other roles. But I did not expect them to even draw inspiration from tongue twisters. "He shaves with seashells on the seashore." Is nothing sacred anymore?
