I’ve been sisterloc’d now for five years from loose natural since 2012 (shaved my hair off bald)! I could not imagine doing my own retighten so, I have a Loctician and I do not go past 9 weeks because my hair grows really fast and my roots tend to tangle in that time. Your locs look lovely 😊.

Yeah to 8 years loc and embrace the grey. I’m 5 years loc and I stop dying my hair. I am bra strapped length. When the grey reaches my shoulders( It’s almost there I’m cutting the brown off)

What can I use for frizz locks

Theres a young woman I follow in the UK who had her SL's started at 3 or 4 shes now an adult locked for 22 years. She has nothing but good things to say about her hair journey. Especially with micro sized locks that behave so much like individual strands it can help boost the childs self esteem, decrease hair loss ( the amount of young girls and teens I have seen with traction alopecia from wigs and braids is heartbreaking). It can also decrease bullying and help with gendered competition as Black girls can retain length easier... similar to their non-Black counterparts. It can be quite difficult to come of age with loose kinky short hair in Western countries. Also it can give young girls more autonomy over their body and hair as they can learn at earlier ages how to wash and style it since locs are more manageable than loose tightly coiled hair. I wish I had known about microlocs in elementary or middle school would have saved alot of money and stress.

You locs are beautiful. You are right about the length creeping up on you before you know it. I will send you a picture of my locs from the first year to now the sixth year. I can’t believe how long they are. To God be the glory! Lastly, you may want to try henna for your gray hair. It is a natural dye. I go to the eyebrow shop wear they also use henna. Take care! I’m sorry to hear about the passing of your grandma. But I’m glad to see that you’re doing well. Your hair is beautiful. My greys mainly congregate along my hairline and they are so disrespectful. I’ve using henna and indigo to color my hair. It’s time consuming but you probably don’t have that kind of time with your schedule.

Hi, the major differences I have noticed is that I have very low density fine hair. When I started my sisterlock journey, my hair was thin and very scalp. I started in February 2022. I am now 2 years locked. The major differences now are that my hair has blossomed alot and it is not scalp as it was when I first started.

Sept 2024 will be 3yrs for me. My Loc count at est. was 516. My sweet spot is 5 weeks for reties. As a loose natural for 9yrs prior to getting Sisterlocks, I loved ❤️ & took pride in self maintaining my natural hair except for the occasional blowout. Well as an almost 3yr loc’d girlie, I pride myself in hauling azz 😂 to my consultant for reties 😂❤. I tried a self retiie last year. It took me 2.5hrs to retie SIX Locs aka mess them up aka (accidentally combine) them🤣🤦🏾‍♀️... Needless to say & hands down the best $170 I spend every 5 weeks😁👍🏾🥰

I Locd my 3 year olds hair last month and we both love em. People will always have something to say no matter what we do lol. Im the one who has to do it everyday. At least she won’t be bald by 10!
