That’s probably (in my opinion) the best ‘style’ of rack out there for replacing the grab bar. It’s unfortunate the quality of the build isn’t great. Overall, I think it does look better than the stock grab bar without the license plate…but I agree that it’s maybe not the final answer. The functionality is likely going to be nice…the crooked rail would be something I wouldn’t be able to unsee tho. - Also. The overall support that those chrome bars on the sides of the fender are for the rear, lower fender and the rearward mounting of the saddlebag bars. The tabs at the bottom of those are known for cracking when heavy loads are put into the saddlebags because of the stress they are under. Good video again. Ride safe!

Nice. Anxious to see your long(er)-term review of the ride quality after the Bushings. For similar reasons, I did the Spherical Bearing/Bushing Upgrade on my '99 Road King using parts from Custom Cycle Engineering. Obviously it's a different frame than your '17...but I think it made a pretty big difference. My upgrade was done around the same time I did a Frame Stabilizer - so I cannot recall what made the bigger improvement. I'd also like to know what caused the cable in your bag to snap? Binding? Pulling too hard on the lever while the bag was locked? I have a set of the 'newer' bags that I will be putting on my 2004 Ultra Classic and was looking at them over the weekend to see how difficult they'll be to disassemble for paint - and I noticed that the cable is permanently fixed to the 'lock plate'. I was planning to just remove that nut from the lock and remove the plate (like you did)...but I also wondered if that 'rivet' holding the cable could be drilled & replaced with a small nut/bolt. Dunno. Anyway. Good video. Ride safe.
@Mikeityourself
@Mikeityourself 24 күн бұрын
Will definitely be following up on these stab's. Hope they resolve my issue. As for the Cable, root cause is im a dummy. lol. I was comparing the lids from the factory to my TCMT bags and liked how the speakers fit better on the factory lids. So swapped them over but wanted to keep the locks and I had to drill out the rivet that was in-place. Well during that whole process, I kept flexing that termination and it finally just broke. Its pretty soft, guessing its lead. Im probably going to replace the same parts on my King because i stressed them pretty good as well. Dont want them to break on me while locked.

I have one. I found the lever-lift bar useless, even with a cheater bar. As you say, the friction is incredible. I bought a 2nd scissor jack to place under the chock, and I lift it up and place the pin. I recently bought a seven inch ramp and will try that with the chock in the upright, locked position. People complain about the trans, but I haven't had any problems. There's no pressure on the gears turning in neutral. I strap my handlebars both downward toward the chassis and upward toward the roof bars.

Only argument I've heard on the tranny that made sense was if they don't have an oil pump running then it isn't lubing the gears.
