Saw the show when it was new, after hearing the original album, so long ago now, but can remember it like it was yesterday. No one will ever beat Ian Gillan as Jesus, but I do like the edginess of this Judas, that's how he should be.

Weird how this version is slower, as in the tempo is lowered. Makes every phrase super clunky and weird.

why are they arab, though? these were Jews.... the arabs hadn't arrived in the region at the time, only 650 years into the future.

I'll be honest... Listening to the 70s version and this back to back... Judas has his qualities and people seem to defend the performance with "he show the pain and internal struggle". But all I get from the performance is a whiny man that cries out like a child. Where's the anger that comes with the pain?

Someone probably must have done this already but a version of this show were Jesus and his followers are hippies who live in an authoritarian or police state (calpernacus and his allies would be cops while Pilate would be his defense attorney that the cops just want to him to a puppet so they could say he was properly represented and got due process and a fair trail (even thou he didn't ) would also work well with these 70 rock type songs

Hay tantas actuaciones sutilmente perfectas: 1:29 El bastón no es sólo para vestir. Herodes está acostumbrado a usarlo. 2:18 Ay, vaya. Le he tocado. Herodes le considera de muy bajo standing. 3:12 ¿Qué hacemos? La bailarina está aterrada porque Herodes está muy enfadado, pero debe seguir haciendo el espectáculo porque si no podría haber graves represalias.

I think he was expecting the crowd to see the brutality of it and change their minds. And he realises their blood thirst doesn't abate.
@DermacrosisАй бұрын
Why would he? Pilate was a Roman governor and so just as brutal as them all, infact there have been found record of him being censured for being too brutal. The story of Pilate changed for the early days of the Church, after all if you want to base the seat of the religion in Rome then you can not have one of your own willing to kill Christ.

@@Dermacrosis oh. I'm talking about the actors portrayal in the movie adaptation. I know nothing of the historical figure.
@Dermacrosis23 күн бұрын
@@machazychaz That is the problem with such major Christian based things. You need to know the history to understand the thing. It is also the arrogance of the Christian west that they think everyone would know the foundation.
