Hi! I am new to your channel. Do you have a video of the cream cheese chicken chili? I was telling my friend the other day who is allergic to tomatoes about white chicken chili. She had never heard of it. I would happily share your video with her🙂 I like canned green beans drained and with bacon and balsamic vinegar (the vinegar goes sweet). I just made pork chops marinated in lemon juice, sage, honey, and tarragon for supper tonight. I sliced potatoes, put them on a lightly greased baking sheet, put the pork chops on top, and frozen brussel sprouts around the edges. Baked in the oven at 425 for 25 minutes. I took of the pork chops and bake the veggies another 5 minutes until a little brown. I used to be scairt of cooking pork chops too, homemade marinade has been my help to keep them tender regardless of my skill level. Italian dressing is another good marinade, so is yogurt, lemon juice, and curry😎

Easy really good meal, brown pork chops then place in a slow cooker with 2 cans cream of chicken soup (some people use cream of mushroom) cook about six hours. I serve them with mashed potatoes and whatever veg, I put a little of the sauce on the potatoes. Sooo good.

You can put your green beans and carrors in soups and casseroles. They blend in very well. Also, they can be sautéed in a little oil and sesame seeds. Maybe add bacon pieces. One of my daughters hated green beans, as does her family now. They can be creatively cooked and disguised. 😂

A good thing to use your canned carrots in is spaghetti sauce if you make it homemade. It adds sweetness to the sauce instead of using sugar and you get veggies in and they will never know. You can also use squash or pumpkin. On Little Mountain Ranch she makes spaghetti sauce with squash. 😊

A thought for the beans and carrots - would they work in a soup like beef vegetable or chicken noodle. For the ham, use leftovers for ham & corn chowder, chop up for omelettes or ham tetrazzini. The bone makes a great base for split pea with ham soup. Wishing you a successful pantry challenge.

I just came across your channel and I subscribed. I’m interested in pantry challenges because that is what I plan to do the first two months of the year. It’s good to use up what you have before you buy fresh. It is hard for me to pass on some good sales on meat and groceries but I will do that so that I don’t waste what I do have.
@homemakingwithjoy3 күн бұрын
Thanks for subscribing! 🙂 I understand what you mean about the sales, but I find that I don't even think about that when I stay out of the grocery store. Best wishes on your challenge this year!

Hey :) litlle tip for your green beans from Belgium :D Prepare some boiled potatoes aside. Then In a pot melt some butter and add scalions (1 or 2) add some mustard (1TBSP). Cook 1 or 2 min. Add flour (in a way is like making a "roux".) Add a litle bit of water to make smooth sauce. (Salt & peper as prefered) Once this sauce is done, mix your potatoes and green beans :) Always my favorite way to eat this :p

One of the favorite ways we fix the boneless pork chops is to dip in egg and then parmesan cheese. Then just put butter in my cast iron and cook until golden and of course cooked through. So good! You can also put them in a baking dish, add cream of mushroom soup - store bought or homemade, cover them and cook for 2-3 hours and they are so tender and delicious. You can use the "sauce" around them as gravy as is, or actually add what you use to make gravy thicker and still, easy gravy for some mashed potatoes.

Thanks! I was wondering what to do with the liquid after straining, and you answered that without me asking. :) I didn't know about sterilizing the cooker prior to making yogurt, so I will be doing that as well. I've seen some "how to make yogurt" videos where they use the instant pot but have it on for 36 hours, I'm wondering why that is? They didn't say anything about heating the milk to 180 degrees then letting it cool down to around 100 degrees before adding in the cultures, so maybe that is why it takes that long? Thanks! Happy Holidays as today is Dec. 25th. May all your days be merry and bright. :)

A good trick for cooking pork chops: Season the chops with a seasoning of your choice. Italian dressing marinade is really good on chops, but be careful not to burn when browning. I also like a good barbecue rub or Cajun seasoning. Sear the chops just long enough to get some good color on both sides. Then, put the chops in a 9 x 13 pan and cover TIGHTLY with foil. Bake at 400 for 30-45 minutes (or until you have the rest of dinner put together). It makes them SO tender.

You did a very nice pantry challenge. You asked, if we had any suggestions. I have one, I like to open one of my jars of home canned green chiles and a can of my home canned pork. Cook/simmer together, put in a flour tortilla and add cheese, it is very popular here in Arizona.
@triplecreekfarm20074 күн бұрын
Sounds good. I canned some pork tenderloin cut into bite size pieces. I added 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp. each of garlic powder and onion powder to each pint. I used some of it last week to make pork quesadillas. I just drained the liquid, heated it up in a skillet and added a little chili powder to taste. Then, I added that and cheese to the quesadillas and served with salsa and sour cream. Yum!

Try cooking your green beans the Southern Way. Pour jar into a medium pan. Add1 tablespoon bacon grease, or bacon and one Tablespoon of diced onion. Bring to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes. Everyone loves it. Hope your family will too. Feel free to double the added flavor ingredients.
@triplecreekfarm20074 күн бұрын
Yep. We add bacon or ham instead of just the grease. I usually put in a little garlic salt and onion, too. The one thing that REALLY adds some good flavor, though, is adding some chicken broth or bouillon to the cooking water. Delicious. We had pork chops and green beans for dinner tonight. 😊

I’m preparing for pantry challenge 2025. I usually go through the month of March with the exception of dairy products. I’ve always allowed myself to buy the package snacks we eat on a normal basis, but I’m trying to make our snacks from scratch this year. I’ve been trying new recipes in December trying to get a hang of what we like.
