mechanical as well as electrical are recruited in cpwd under E&M cadre. So its a common cadre. Not much of mechanical engineering in CPWD. If you come to cpwd in E&M cadre, electrical or mechanical engineer, Both have to do electrical engineering related works only. Scopes of works are: Internal and external electrical installations, HVAC, LAN, Sustattion, BMS, CCTV, EPABX systems, Fire fighting etc. So mostly electrical engineering

To answer your question, its important to know what interests you to come to government sector. Is it fame, power or opportunity to get ingaged in big scale projects. In case u want to be in it for the first 2 above, then IAS has no match. And no, you will not get the fame and power like IAS in ESE. Its a different field. When it comes to power and fame, I think now a days, politicians are at top. Bureaucrats are getting diminshed powers. That being said, IAS is still at top and ESE has no match to that. But, if you want to be in for grabbing opportunity to work in big scale projects in India, its high time for civil engineers to join government sector. High speed trains, river interlinking, station redevelopment, expressways development, infra upgradation of government colleges, schools, hospitals: all are coming up and going forward, for next 20 years I dont see the momentum reducing. LONG STORY SHORT: If you want to work as administrator and have more power and later, in life, participate in policy making in the country: GO FOR IAS. These things: "POWER, FAME, POLICY DECISION MAKING" are not available in ESE job. If you are a technocrat and want to enhance yourself as an expert in civil engineering, go for ESE. You will get a lot of exposure and experience at a very young age through ESE. Hope I have answered your question

The ranking structure of various posts varies from state to state. In most of the states, there is JE<AE<EE<SE<CE. However in some states like Telengana the post names are quite confusing. Instead of JE they have AEE, then AE, then EE, and then Addl CE I guess. I am not sure about Addl CE, if anyone has any idea pls comment. That being said, in state, the promotions are quite irregular. Most retire as EE

@ sir actually my point was at officer level the structure goes like this AEE (lvl 10), EE (lvl 11), EE(NFSG) (lvl 12), SE (lvl 13), CE ( lvl 14); here after EE an officer doesn’t become SE instead he is promoted to EE (SG) Jt. Dir. But in State they don’t have EE(SG) rather they have SE corresponding to level 12 EE (SG). Is Central SE senior to state SE?

@@ronin1226 Yes central SE will be senior. Infact, for seniority, the posts are rarely seen. Its the scale and equivalent ministry staff rank that is seen.

Je to Ae promotion takes about 8-10 years. Now a days tghe promotion is quite regular. AEE is directly recruited through UPSC ESE. So yes B tech is must for this exam. If you have diploma only, you are not eligible

Business in construction field is very lucrative. One can average a profit margin of 15-20 % easily when starting small. On bigger projects, with inhouse production of materials, the margin can be increased. That being said, the construction field is very tricky and highly dependent on unorganised sector. So prior experience in the field is advised before one ventures into construction business

Thats a very bad and sick approach of viewing government services. Atleast the youngsters like us should be professional in our job. Black money is a leech that eating our country. please refrain from such ideas. If you want to earn good money, go to such high paying jobs like business consulting, product management, finance etc. If you want safety ( desired by the bottom section of middle class to which most of the government sector people belong) then come to government sector. Also if you want exposuire to big projects at young age, then also you are welcome in government sector. But pls dont come here just to earn black money

Any dept is off if you are posted in planning units. For field units, saturdays are working

Yes de sakte hain. But then your service experience in the organisation will not be accounted for. Service experience helps you later in career during promotions where prior experience gives you high seniority. Apart from that, if there is any bond in the service, tehn you have to pay the bond amount. I have paid bond amounts in my previous services. There are ways to prevennt this bond amount but that is a matter of separate discussion
