Speaking on the post-DLC blues, I’ve gone back to Skyrim after 3 years and am enjoying it, but after a month away from Starfield, I’m ready to hop back in and finish my current playthrough post-Shattered Space. I think Starfield has become my new “comfort” game that I always return back to. I’ve put 300 hours into the game since launch, which is a lot for me. I think I only have 400 hours into Skyrim total across all platforms after picking it up in 2013, and I’m on pace to pass that 400 hours in Starfield in the next 6 months or so. There’s just something about this game that resonates with me in a way that no other game has, even though I’ve loved every BGS game since Oblivion. And I know I’ve said this before, but I love the podcast! It’s nice to hear from players enjoying Starfield instead of the constant negativity around KZbin and Reddit.

I’ve pointed out the NMS points of interest issue so many times to people who complain about Starfield’s exploration being too repetitive and seeing the same POIs over and over. NMS has this same issue but 100x worse (and I say this as someone who does enjoy NMS). Starfield’s exploration is way better than NMS in my opinion. The only thing NMS has going for it over Starfield on the exploration side is the seamless planet-to-planet travel and atmospheric flight, which is such a small part of the exploration overall. Again, both good games, but the complaints about Starfield’s exploration being bad compared to NMS is just goofy and not true.

I personally love the game. My only critique is, why build all those worlds if you’re not going to add to them? It’s been over a year. How hard is it to add POIs to this galaxy? Why are they not just dropping content in the galaxy for us to find?
@theitechlab4 күн бұрын
I bet we’re going to see a bunch of new POIs (both ones for the procedural generation placement and unique ones) in some future update. It’d go a long way for exploration and variety to have 40-50 more POIs in the pool for the proc gen to draw from.

29:24 if you like having that one place with your cool armor may i suggest before ng+ing a game make a separate save at the house with all your cool stuff and never save over it. Then no matter what you can always return to your “home” and not feel that loss to the point where you have to recreate it every new game. It saves some mental stress if you know what I mean and a lot of wasted time

7:57 I’m still playing it every evening now when I get bored in the future I would like to try space marine 2, then most likely I will return to fantasy like Skyrim or dragons dogma. As always though I know once a month or two has past I’ll return to starfield invigorated ready to explore all over again. Really that’s the only genres I like, high fantasy with dragons and magic, or post earth space /post apocalyptic earth . I’ve tried to enjoy the online scene with wow or eso (I love eso) but seeing someone hopping by with a name above there head that usually has profanity in it just ruins immersion. The whole point of the game to me is to be lost in it and absent from reality for an hour or two. Like a good book would do.

I love starfields place in the world of space sims. I play lots of Star Citizen. And I love it, I love how long everything takes, and the way it feels like you have truly traveled for many many light years. But starfield, now starfield itches that crave for a space sims while cutting out all the wait time, it allows me to jump in and GET SHIT DONE! haha I can play starfield for an hour and do soooooo much and see soooooo much. Where in a game like star cit, or no man's sky, you spend an hour or two just completing one mostly measly task just for profit to further sustain your gameplay. It just depends what my mood is. Both experiences give me lots of peace of mind and are very relaxing space games , with just enough thrill

I absolutely agree. Bethesda has done a terrible job, no matter how you look at it. And this is from a diehard. The least they could do is remove the achievement blocker for non-Bethesda creations, if they aren’t going to announce the next DLC. I’m about to give up.

16:53 Yes. Todd DID say it was "It's like 'Skyrim in Space". It was in a Washington Post news article on June 13, 2021. Ashley Cheng then immediately said it's like a Han Solo simulator to her. How I see it? Keep in mind the audience of people who read or pay any attention to The Washington Post. Now keep in mind how many people who read from them would know any Bethesda game other than MAYBE Skyrim in the first place. Finally, keep in mind Todd Howard was being asked by an interviewer from a media outlet with an audience he knows has almost no knowledge of video games outside of Mario, Sonic, and Pac-Man and he'd been asked to try to explain his new Bethesda RPG IP to them. I think Ashley Cheng was closer than Todd was, but considering Todd's background it makes sense from him to go with what he said when asked on the spot. If I were in Todd's shoes, my go to would probably be "It's like 'Skyrim in Space'" too, but you're right that in hindsight it has only been coming back to bite him

I think they missed out in having a galactic war like what the alluded to within the lore. Yes, you can build a character and put points into science and tech and be able to explore space. I made my own character in this manner. Every one was so focused on going to a planet and exploring all of it. They ignore all that is found in space between planets.

I like starfield , the dialog could be a little less goodie goodie along with companions. I'd like to see much more though. There are small issues , but I find that in every game. I'd like another dlc where I could go to where ever the starborne ships are made.
@Blueprint-Sensei15 күн бұрын
Starfields dialogue and lore is so bad I'd rather play Star Citizen even without any of its lore or dialogue implemented it literally hurts the game. Starfield is a looter shooter like Fallout 4 and is written for 4 year olds. Emil Pagliarulo and KISS single handedly killed Bethesda. Oblivion/Morrowind were their peak in terms of writting. Skyrim was good enough but started it's slide.
