In this video, I continue my Chess.com Puzzle Rush Survival run, solving nine highly complex puzzles to bring my score from 61 to 70. I set up each puzzle on Chessbase, carefully talking through my calculation and thought process, and helping newer players follow along by playing out my calculations on the analysis board before attempting the solution. This video aims to make convoluted, master-level puzzles accessible and understandable to players of all levels. Above all, I hope to inspire you to solve puzzles more regularly and to not shy away from exercises that are above your current level!

Quite instructive: the insight into the mind of a chess genius. My survival high score is 61 and this video shows me the mountain of a difference between the way you solve and how we approach the same situation. First, your mind is thorough - you don't miss any tactical ideas. Secondly, moves like Qb3 in the last puzzle occur naturally to you. Moves like Rc2 and the idea of Qh1 then Qg2! You quickly dismiss our favourite move, b5, as seriously weakening and settle on the "natural" Rd8. These instincts are truly next level stuff. However, the most impressive thing that's a clear difference is how you calculate! Watching you, it seems as if you can clearly see the board in your mind and actually mentally move pieces so that you are actually seeing the position with new threats while for most of us, it's a mental fog trying to remember where every piece goes and how it impacts the position. So that is my question: when you are performing mental calculations, what do you see? Is it the board? If so, is that something you learn or an innate skill? Much thanks for your video and I... we are seriously looking forward to the Knight vs Bishop endgame video. May I also suggest an idea for a video series :"how to attack." Thank you.

This was amazing, it a shame you didnt get more views. I think there is no better way than to improve tactically than doing puzzles little bit out of your skill level and comfort zone with phenomenal expert like you Danya which will fill in a little gaps in our thinking process. That little gaps can sometimes literally be hundreds of elo points, thanks a lot, and i hope you will not get discouraged with publishing stuff like this in a future.

I absolutly love it. It's so interesting to see the process of these expert levels. Just two things I wanted to point out. For me it is easier, when you draw the arrows while thinking of a sequence, because I need more time to find the exact squares if you calculate really fast. So I'm not able to follow the idea anymore. Also the video is pretty long, if you watch it in one go (like me xD), but this is not really a problem. PLEASE keep going with the next levels.

Great video Danya. I have a personal best of 52. Watching you do these illustrates several of my weaknesses which are, I am extremely slow to visualize as deeply as you're doing here. If I really try hard I can see maybe 10, 12, 14 Plies deep . But I spend forever. Then, I am not very good at evaluating the resulting positions while visualizing. I'm okay at seeing forcing lines like you have in a puzzle, but not very good at choosing between two resulting positions, neither of which I know the evaluation, and trying to pick the better one. And then lastly, I've almost never had to take algebraic notation while playing OTB, mostly because I don't have rated OTB anywhere near me. That makes my communications skills of notation very poor. The blind tactics I started to work on recently have been helping that considerably, forcing me to think in notation, but I have an awful long way to go. For the most part here I was able to follow all your descriptions without the arrows or moving the pieces. Anyway, thanks for doing the video, I've got more things to work on!

Hey Danya, which types of puzzles are more conductive to improvement a few hard puzzles (single rated puzzles) to push one's edge or a lot easy puzzles (puzzle rush / puzzle storm) to master the basics?

Just saying puzzle 63 was indeed as complicated as you made it. Even when the puzzle was „solved“, the move order of the final 3 captures was so difficult to see, just like the resources white used to defend. My maximum is 51 Puzzles and I’m proud of that cause at that point the puzzles get reallllly complicated

Correct me if I'm wrong Danya, but around 17:28 I think your line is incorrect: If Qxg2 Rf1 Bh3 immediately, then there's Qa4+ and Be2, so I think it's better to plau Qxg2 Rf1 and Nxd3+ cxd3 Bh3, because then the rook is lost.
